We recently connected with MINT and have shared our conversation below.
MINT, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I have some steps leading up to my current position. After graduating Bunka Fashion College, I became an assistant designer of h.NAOTO and made my debut as a designer of Sixh. in 2006.
While part of a fashion duet with the brand Sixh., I have created my own line called MINT NeKO.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
MINT NeKO uses oriental silhouettes inspired by mode style with cat character graphics. There are actually more than 250 original kitty characters that are created and used in the garments.
I have created cats to collaborate in the world of fashion, and collaborated with many Japanese artists.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Everything I’ve experienced is drawn on my design…art, novel, comic… Now I need more knowledge about movie and architecture.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Fashion design can be part of my customer’s life with memories.
