We recently connected with Minh Tuan Nguyen and have shared our conversation below.
Minh Tuan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Deep down I knew as a child growing up I wanted to pursue the arts however it wasn’t until my third year studying at the university level, that it dawned on me that I wanted to get into the film and entertainment business, after having several conversations with my close friends that they helped me realize what I really wanted to do. In this regard I wanted to give a big thanks to my friend Brian.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started off as a production assistant and background extra on the renown TV series Walker Texas Ranger in Dallas Texas back in 1998. One thing led to another, I started taking film acting and film production classes at the Young Actors Studio in Las Colinas Texas. I even took an improv class at the University of Texas at Dallas. I auditioned for my first play ever for the role of Lord Rivers in the Shakespeare Classic “Richard the III” and got casted by John Price the director of the show and university theater professor. Linda Seto founder of Young Actors Studio introduced me to my first agent Kay Anderson, I booked a national Verizon Commercial, got a SAG-AFTRA letter saying I was eligible to join. From there, I moved to Los Angeles California immediately after graduating with my Business Management Degree. After landing in Los Angeles, I got signed by a few agencies. I was asked to start working as a production assistant for CBS Studios on CSI:NY by a friend which also led to some stunt work as well. I interned for casting directors such as Stephen Snyder. I got more production work which evolved my growth as a filmmaker, this process was my film school, and eventually I was asked to produce film projects. As I felt more confident I transitioned from producer to being a Director. After studying screenwriting with Pilar Alessandra a script consultant for Dreamworks, I began writing my own scripts. Then as my workload grew I began working for other major companies such as Fox Studios and Disney. Eventually I was hired as an Executive Producer for Production Inc. where I was involved in producing commercials for brand names such as Samsung and making music videos for artists such as Celeste Buckingham. In the year 2020 I formed Create Pictures my own production company. As a director I immerse myself completely in telling the story visually in the narrative film and tv show process, in regards to commercials I thoroughly enjoy the creative process where I can bring high quality value to a brand name. Given my musical background both in singing and playing instruments I have a passion for directing music videos in the short form type projects. I feel like I’ve learned from every project to elevate my skills, I am currently most proud of my films Lyla Wolf, Psyops Free and Mind Talker which have won awards internationally. I do have a new film Heart Road which will be released in 2024. I also have feature films that will have major releases in 2025 and onwards. Just know that if you decide to work with me I want you to enjoy the whole journey together where we can have fun and create beautiful things together!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding thing about being an artist and creative is that I can tell stories through the visual film medium that can touch the hearts of people in many emotional levels that will provide therapy in a positive way in addition to the entertainment aspect.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I believe that when people sign up for a streaming service subscription, goto the movie theater, goto a live theater show and or musical concert and even write a well balanced review that provides constructive positive criticism this shows the artist that you not only support the value of what that creative has made but that you are involved in their growth by giving feedback. Understanding everyone has their own opinions, we as artists create for the enjoyment and sharing our imagination and vision with you from the depths of our experiences.
