We were lucky to catch up with Mindy Song recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mindy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
One of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on is DA1SY D00M. It’s born from seeing so much destruction in the world but holding onto a radical faith that things can change—that there’s always a path toward light, even in the darkest moments. This project is personal because it’s about holding space for transformation. I’ve had my own battles and breakthroughs, and this is about creating something that reflects that process—about finding beauty even when everything feels chaotic or broken.
My roots go back to playing violin in orchestras, where I first realized the power of music to transform not just a space, but the people in it. Music can completely shift your perspective and mood in a matter of minutes. That idea has stuck with me as I’ve evolved as an artist. When I first tried on a VR headset, I knew this was a next-level tool for creating that same transformation but in an even more immersive way. It can take you to another world in an instant—sometimes a world more beautiful than what’s physically around you. That got me asking deeper questions: What is beauty? What is real?
With DA1SY D00M, I’m aiming to push those boundaries. I want to build out installations, both physical and virtual, that completely immerse people in a new experience—whether it’s walking through an interactive public art installation or stepping into a VR world that challenges their perception of reality. I want my work to be a portal, something that makes you question what’s possible and inspires hope that change, no matter how radical, can happen.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve been building both business and music since I was a kid. At 8 years old, I named my parents’ manufacturing business “Sweet Kids” in Downtown LA, and by 12, I was tutoring. In my 20s, I started my own creative agency. Now, I’m running two ventures: MRI Management, a Marketing & Creative Agency, and DA1SY D00M, an art collective. Business and art have always gone hand in hand for me. I’ve had to reject the outdated idea that artists need to starve. In today’s world, I believe that the most powerful artists are also great at managing business. You need both to survive and thrive.
Through DA1SY D00M, we create art installations and immersive experiences, while at MRI Management, we offer top-tier TV/Film production and marketing services. We’ve worked with major brands like FOX, Disney+, and Porsche, executing projects that range from full-scale TV/film production to influencer branding kits that make an impact. The greatest challenge our clients face is connecting with millennial and Gen Z audiences in a world that’s constantly evolving. Whether it’s through engaging commercials, TV, or influencer kits, we help them drive traffic and engage their audience in meaningful ways.
What sets us apart is our vision. At MRI, we don’t just create for today; we’re thinking about the highest potential of what the future could be. Our mantra is “Make Real Impact”—we’re not just focused on profits or clicks; we’re building something sustainable for generations to come.
One of my proudest moments was performing at various halls and theaters as a musician. That experience taught me the power of human connection, and it’s something I carry with me into everything I do—whether it’s art or business. I want my work to show people that we’re not doomed to a future of destruction and darkness. There’s hope. We have the power to shape the world we want to see, and I’m determined to build toward that vision, no matter what anyone says.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
A huge part of my creative journey is driven by the hope of one day building and hosting an experience at the Rungrado Stadium in North Korea. My grandparents were from the North before the war, and though I was born here in Orange County, CA, that connection to the North has always been with me. For most of my life, I worked tirelessly in art, music, and business, not fully understanding my “why.” That moment came when I had the honor of opening for the Korean rock band YB in Seoul, South Korea. They told me about their experience performing in North Korea, where musicians from both the North and South came together to sing pre-war Korean songs. It was a moment that transcended political borders, and I realized then that certain kinds of work have the power to unite, even in divided regions.
Since then, it’s become a dream of mine to perform or host a special event in North Korea, and I hope for peace in the region. My work has been building toward that—whether it’s through art installations, performances, or business. I currently have the privilege of working with Norman Seeff, a legendary rock ‘n roll photographer, and I aspire to build a concert series around the iconic artists he has photographed. My ultimate goal is to fill the 150,000-person stadium in North Korea for a shared experience that brings people together in a way that only music and art can. That would be the pinnacle of everything I’ve worked for, the moment where all my dreams come true.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative is bringing an idea to life and witnessing how it affects others. There’s nothing quite like performing or showcasing something that started in your mind, and then seeing people connect with it on a deep emotional level. I remember after one of my shows, people came up to me saying they cried or had a cathartic experience during the performance. Knowing that my work can stir something within people, move them in ways they might not even expect—that’s what keeps me going. It’s a type of heart movement, and I’m incredibly grateful to be able to channel that through my art.
