We recently connected with Mindy Smith and have shared our conversation below.

Mindy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

J B Herefords is a family run Cattle Ranch. We have been running Horned Hereford cattle for almost 100 years. Our mission is to continue the family heritage of running and operating this on this beautiful land in Northern Utah, as the 4th and 5th generation of ranchers. We love our Hereford cows and are finding ways to improve our Ranch and make it successful. We are currently selling beef to consumers, heifers, bulls, and steers, and even started selling beef tallow this year. We hope to continue our heritage into the next generation.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

We are currently calving out about 140 Mother cows each spring. We also grow all of our own hay and grain for our cattle. We sell bulls by private treaty and have beef shares available from the fat steers we produce each fall. We have a big focus on genetics for breeding and look for specific traits for our cows to have.

How did you build your audience on social media?

We are currently trying to boost our social media to get more followers. The goal is to get our story out there and let people know that we are a ranch that has a reputation for breeding the best cows and producing amazing products because of that. Alot of the videos we have posted are just snippets into the daily life here on the J B Herefords Ranch.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?

Being in the cattle business for over 100 years, you have returning customers and then even their posterity. It’s amazing to hear about people’s great grandfathers buying a J B Hereford bull long long ago, and they still remember how well it performed and how nice it was! We always guarantee everything that leaves the ranch.
