We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mindy Dougherty. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mindy below.
Mindy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
My friend helped me get stem cells and an hbot.

Mindy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Mindy Dougherty, I am a former medic in the Army for 4 years. Then went to nursing school to become a trauma and interventional radiology nurse. I have a condition called crps which is a neurological burning mostly in my spinal cord, so I went to Colombia twice to receive stem cells. I plan on going again in March when the company opens in Mexico. For a brief time I dabbled into acting, and have been in a few independent films. I am also an author of my autobiography called A Resilient Warrior. I wrote a children’s book about lessons learned in life and the consequences of our actions.
I became a watsu practitioner a few years ago which helps people by giving a massage in warm water. I currently go to the gym and walk the canyon to stay fit. I love to view my garden in my backyard, and enjoy simple meditations. I have type 1 diabetes, so I must be careful of what I eat and my activity level.
I am writing another book called trigger warnings to help people move thru their traumas. As I have struggled with a very difficult path by the abuse in childhood and adulthood. So, I continue therapy to help me get through my experiences and learn behavior modifications like breathing exercise, journaling, and exercise.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I have struggled with reading my whole life, so in order to go to Nursing School, I relearned how to read as an adult, and passed my exams, so now I have my BSN.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2014, I broke my left ankle, tibia, and fibula which left me bed bound for 3.8 years. I became a Watsu Practitioner to help get people in the water and massage to help people with depression, anxiety, orthopedic issues, and alignment of chakras.
