Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mindirose Pozzolano. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mindirose, appreciate you joining us today. Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
When I think of a hero I think of someone who is selfless, brave, smart, courageous and never loses hope even when things seem impossible. That hero to me is my father! Who is my biggest inspiration and bestfriend. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for my mom, brother and I, and even when he had everything taken away for him he still gets up everyday with a smile on his face. He always taught me to never give up when things get hard but to always see the bigger picture.
His strength and work ethic pushed me to open a small business at just the age of 18 during a pandemic. His drive kept me motivated making me teach myself how to embroider, hand-knit and create something people would love. He is my biggest supporter, my most valuable asset and without him my business wouldn’t be as successful as it is today.
Truly.Denim started out as just painting a few denim jackets for my friends and family and it has been a wild ride since. Truly.denim transforms any customers unique ideas into a reality. My business is all about creating and making visions come to life and I can proudly say for the 4 years I have been trusted by many to be apart of their special moments and that alone is a treasure in itself. Every share, every story mention, and every friend you tell helps a small business get a little bit bigger.
Mindirose, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a student at CSI who started her college career in the brink of covid. When I think back on it, many people saw the pandemic as a loss, as it was for many people and businesses, my mom being one of the people affected by it. I saw this time as an opportunity to put my creative side to good use. I sat many hours trying to perfect something I didn’t know, and out of it came Truly.Denim. I am the person who pats someone on the back, cheers someone on and gives good support to others. I think small businesses should always support other small businesses because we are all in the same boat.
Truly.Denim is a business that started out with hand painting some denim jackets for friends and it opened the door for more possibilities. I taught myself how to hand-knit, embroider, paint and circuit so my business could grow. All while being a full time student and working 2 jobs. I’m a go getter and believe that with just alittle hard work nothing is impossible, you just have to believe in yourself. What sets my business apart from many others, is that every item is customized to the buyer. I have made embroidered bibs for baptisms, blankets for babies being brought home from the hospital, merchandise for other small businesses etc. And with every item there is a memory and a moment that puts a smile on my face that I was apart of something bigger. I always cherish every order that I have made because I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my amazing friends, family and customers. Without them none of those moments would be possible. I’m very proud of all that I accomplished and I’m very excited to see what’s in store the future!!
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media is a large part of how I communicate with my customers. There are a lot of things that go into running a business and social media is a crucial one. With trends constantly changing day by day, so does your opportunity for advertising. My biggest advice would be to keep up with the trends and your brand image should match what you want to your audience feel about your products.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think what helped me build my reputation is my attention to detail and willingness to be open minded. I believe that being honest and transparent is the best thing you can be especially with your customers. Nobody likes to be left in the dark, so good communication is key to a successful outcome.
