We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mina Miusius a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Mina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Hi everyone! My name is Mina and I am a vegan chef from Barcelona who is passionate about animal well-being and sustainable food choices. Growing up, I had a traumatic experience seeing first-hand my grandma raise animals for consumption. This led me to reduce my animal product consumption until seven years ago when I went vegan and decided to make it my mission to create and veganize dishes from around the world. My dishes are inspired by flavors from around the world, particularly Mediterranean cuisine. I am committed to promoting a compassionate and sustainable food system and welcome followers to join me in this mission.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As a vegan chef from Barcelona, I have always been passionate about animal well-being and the environmental impact of our food choices. This led me to explore plant-based cooking as a way to create delicious meals without causing harm to animals or the planet.
I began experimenting with different ingredients and techniques in my own kitchen, and eventually decided to pursue my passion for vegan cuisine professionally by attending culinary school.
In addition to my focus on animal well-being, I believe that food is a powerful way to bring people together and foster a sense of community, and I love the opportunity to share the diverse flavors and techniques that I have encountered through my culinary journey. Whether it’s creating a spicy Thai curry, a hearty Mexican burrito, or a traditional Italian pasta dish, I am always excited to try new combinations of ingredients and flavors.
I hope that my followers will appreciate the variety and creativity that I bring to my cooking, and that they will enjoy trying new dishes and flavors alongside me. I am always open to new culinary adventures and am excited to see where my passion for vegan cuisine takes me next.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media has been an important part of growing my vegan chef and content creator business. When I first started, I knew that Instagram would be a key platform for me to showcase my dishes and connect with other vegan foodies. I focused on creating high-quality content that resonated with my target audience and made an effort to engage with my followers and respond to comments and messages. Collaborating with other vegan businesses and influencers has also helped me to expose my brand to new audiences and build relationships within the vegan community.
For those just starting out on their social media journey, my advice would be to stay true to your brand and values and be consistent, authentic, and engaged with your followers. Don’t be afraid to collaborate with others and take the time to build relationships within your industry. Building an audience on social media takes time and effort, so be patient and persistent in your efforts. It can be a challenging process, but the rewards of connecting with and inspiring others make it all worth it.

One story from my journey that illustrates my resilience is my experience immigrating to America and facing domestic abuse.
Despite the challenges I faced, I never gave up and drew on my inner strength and determination to keep going. I worked hard to build a successful career for myself and create a safe and stable home for myself and my loved ones.
My journey has taught me the value of resilience and determination, and I am proud of the strength I have shown. I also care about giving a voice to the voiceless and using my experiences to inspire and support others who may be facing similar challenges.
