Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mina George. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
A significant trend currently shaping video marketing in the business sector is User Generated Content (UGC). Its rise has fundamentally altered the landscape of social media and digital marketing, redefining how brands interact with their audiences. This trend leverages the authenticity of user-created content to build community, foster brand advocacy, and bolster brand credibility. I’ve observed this trend in action through my collaboration with a beverage company, where both professional and user-generated content play pivotal roles.
The beverage company recognized the need to connect more authentically with its target audience, particularly on social media platforms where authenticity and engagement reign supreme. Understanding the potential of UGC, they integrated it alongside our professional content to craft a multifaceted and compelling narrative.
They initiated a UGC campaign, urging customers to share photos and videos of themselves enjoying the company’s beverages using a branded hashtag. To incentivize participation, they offered prizes and showcased select submissions on their social media channels. The response was remarkable, with customers enthusiastically sharing their experiences and forming a vibrant community around the brand.
Concurrently, our team was tasked with producing high-quality professional content, including polished videos showcasing the company’s products in visually captivating settings. These videos complemented the UGC by providing a curated and aspirational perspective, spotlighting the brand’s values and craftsmanship.
Part of our strategy involves collaborating with influencers to create visually stunning professional videos featuring their favorite beverage recipes or hosting virtual tasting events. These videos served as inspiration for our audience to generate their own content, igniting creativity and participation across social media platforms. Along with creating visually captivating content in the studio with their product.
Mina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
After spending over six years as a stay-at-home mom, my previous stint in the Real Estate profession left me feeling unfulfilled. Looking back, I realize that it didn’t resonate with my innate creativity. As I contemplated re-entering the workforce, I was determined to pursue something that ignited my passion. Despite several attempts and various roles within the creative industry, it wasn’t until I picked up a camera and delved into videography that I found my calling.
The moment I began filming, I sensed the immense potential for growth and self-expression in this medium. However, the journey wasn’t without its challenges. With no prior experience, I had to start from scratch, mastering the fundamentals and gradually honing my skills to produce impactful video content for businesses.
My decision to primarily work with female business owners stems from both personal and professional reasons. As a woman in business myself, I understand the unique hurdles we face and feel compelled to support others on a similar journey. This shared experience drives me to empower fellow female entrepreneurs through video content tailored to their specific needs and goals.
In my role, I offer a diverse range of services catering to businesses at different stages of development. Whether it’s startups with limited budgets or established enterprises seeking to expand their video reach, I provide tailored solutions to meet their requirements. For those starting out with modest resources, I offer budget-friendly packages to ensure their video content exudes professionalism. Conversely, for clients with larger budgets aiming for broader visibility, such as television exposure, I leverage my expertise to facilitate their aspirations.
One of my proudest achievements is establishing and nurturing this business within a predominantly male-dominated industry. Through perseverance and dedication, I’ve carved out a space where I not only thrive but also champion causes I deeply believe in. Collaborating with businesses aligned with my values adds another layer of fulfillment to my work, as I contribute to their success while staying true to my principles.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I encountered the need to pivot my business model swiftly due to restrictions on physical interaction. Adapting to the new circumstances, I devised innovative methods to deliver video content to business owners without being physically present with them. This entailed implementing remote recording solutions where I would set up the camera, record, and then step out of the room while the client entered to record their portion. This allowed for the continuation of our services while prioritizing safety and adhering to social distancing guidelines.
Additionally, recognizing the growing demand for online content during this time, I seized the opportunity to diversify my business ventures. Consequently, I launched another business that specialized in providing stock video footage for companies to incorporate into their websites and social media platforms. This initiative not only addressed the evolving needs of businesses navigating the digital landscape but also presented a valuable resource for enhancing their online presence amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic.
In essence, these strategic pivots not only enabled my business to adapt and thrive during unprecedented times but also underscored the importance of flexibility, innovation, and resilience in navigating disruptions and seizing emerging opportunities.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I started a stock video business during Covid to fulfill a need however, after much effort it wasn’t having the success that I envisioned. In the same way, I had to pivot again. Despite giving it my all, the traction I hoped for just wasn’t there.
After some serious soul-searching, I realized it was time to switch gears. Sure, the stock video realm had its perks, but I needed to focus on something with a bit more potential.
That’s when I made the decision to continue to focus on expanding Mina George Films. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it felt like the right move at the right time.
Looking back, I’ve learned that sometimes you’ve got to trust your gut and go with your instincts, even if it means taking a different path than you originally planned.
