We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mimi Trenk a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Mimi , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
A Defining Moment in My Career
My professional path hasn’t followed a straight line — and I’m grateful for that. I began as an attorney, worked in education, and ran a portrait photography business. Each role taught me something about people, purpose, and myself. But underneath it all, I knew I was meant to help others on a deeper level — to guide, support, and witness their healing and growth, the way I had worked so hard to do for myself.
Still, stepping into that truth wasn’t easy. How do you know when you’re “ready”? How do you leave behind titles that others recognize to follow something that doesn’t come with a clear roadmap?
One day, I passed a neighbor on the street — someone I knew only in passing. I smiled and said hello. That night, she sent me an email that I’ll never forget. She wrote that in our brief exchange, she saw something in me — a light, a beauty, something deeply radiant and real. It moved her. And her words moved me.
That email was a mirror. It reflected back the truth I had been slowly stepping into: that the work I wanted to do — helping others heal, grow, and become their best selves — was not just possible, it was visible. Others could already feel it in me. That unexpected affirmation from a near-stranger helped me trust what I already knew deep down: I was ready.
That moment didn’t launch a business overnight. But it was a turning point — the first time I truly owned the calling I had been edging toward for years. It gave me the courage to begin.

Mimi , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hi, I’m Mimi Trenk — a dual-certified Life Coach and Spiritual Healer — and I help people break free from the emotional patterns that keep them stuck so they can step into who they’re truly meant to be.
My path here wasn’t linear. I started out as an attorney, then taught high school for several years, and also ran a portrait photography business. Each of those careers gave me something valuable: law sharpened my clarity and results-oriented mindset, teaching taught me how to hold space and guide others with structure, and photography helped me see people’s truth — the light in them they sometimes couldn’t see themselves.
But no matter what I was doing professionally, there was always something deeper calling me. I had done a lot of healing work in my own life and that felt like my soul calling.
Since then, I’ve become certified as a Mastery Life Coach through the Dina Friedman Academy and trained in trauma-informed spiritual healing under Sanya Bari at the School of Transformational Healing. I now combine strategic coaching tools with deep spiritual and energetic work, helping people heal not just in their minds, but in their hearts and souls.
What I Offer
I work with individuals and groups through:
1:1 coaching
Live workshops and webinars
Programs focused on boundaries, healing, and personal growth
I help my clients:
Let go of people-pleasing and emotional codependency
Set compassionate, healthy boundaries
Heal past wounds and rewrite their internal stories
Build a life that feels aligned, powerful, and real
What sets my work apart is that I bring all of me to the table—logic and heart, structure and spirit. I know what it’s like to feel stuck in a life that doesn’t quite fit. I also know what it takes to rewrite your story and live from a place of wholeness and truth.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m proud of the risks I took to build a life and career rooted in authenticity. I’m proud of the clients I’ve watched transform—seeing their confidence grow, their voice strengthen, their light return. I’m also proud of my work with Atzmi, an organization protecting teen girls’ mental health through Jewish, values-based education and coaching.
But most of all, I’m proud that I’ve become the guide I once needed.
If you’re feeling stuck, emotionally drained, or like you’re meant for more but don’t know how to access it—I see you. You don’t have to do this alone. The truth is, the light is already in you.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Without a doubt: a belief in yourself.
In coaching, you’re not just offering tools or strategies—you are the product. People aren’t just investing in a process; they’re trusting you to guide them somewhere they’ve never been. If I don’t believe in myself, how can they believe in me?
There are so many incredible coaches out there sharing powerful messages. So what makes someone choose me? It’s not just about what I know—it’s about the energy I bring, the way I hold space, and the trust I’ve cultivated within myself. That inner trust creates safety, connection, and transformation for the client.
Ultimately, the more I embody the work I teach, the more naturally clients feel drawn in—not because I’m perfect, but because I’m real, grounded, and walking the same path I invite them to walk.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think what’s helped most is that I’m not afraid to give a lot of myself. I lead with vulnerability—not as a strategy, but because it’s who I am. When it’s real, vulnerability creates trust. And trust is everything in this work.
In my workshops and client conversations, I don’t pretend to have it all figured out. I openly share parts of my own journey—what I’ve healed, what I’m still working on. That honesty creates a sense of safety. People feel seen, not judged. They know I’m walking this path alongside them, not above them.
Being willing to be human, open, and imperfect has helped me build real relationships—and those relationships are the foundation of my reputation.
