We were lucky to catch up with Mimi Monroe recently and have shared our conversation below.
Mimi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with what makes profitability in your industry a challenge – what would you say is the biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge currently is pushing my products on social media. To me my products fall under candy making however it does “promote” the use of hookah which as a tobacco product is a social media NO,NO. So when it comes to marketing I continue to research and overcome.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Mimi Monroe, I am NY based and the everything behind Lickmi Candy Hookah Tips. I occasionally used to see candy hookah tips at the hookah or vape shops—which struck my curiosity as a hookah lover. However, I used to read the packaging and never could tell what candy I’d be consuming or if it was “candy” to begin with. So I took the most popular hard candies and crafted LickMi Candy Hookah Tips. Although hookah is a common social activity essentially it has a smoke taste or no taste therefore the candy on the normal plastic hookah tip creates a new level of enjoyment.
I am most proud of the customer relationships I have developed these past two years. I owe it all to my LickMiholics they believed I would change their hookah experience for the better and never let me quit. They provide me ideas, honest reviews and essentially help me grow personally and as a business owner. Marketing is hard enough so with word of mouth and sharing their orders we’ve been able to reach hundreds of people and even hookah shops. I love my LickMiholics, so in return I provide them custom birthday packaging and the best customer service I can including prompt shipping.
Majority of our business consists of our candy hookah tips however as we grew our customers asked for hookahs to pair. You ask and you shall receive, so this last year we expanded into hookahs and created bundle packages that have been doing well.
Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
I manufacture/create all my candy hookah tips. This allows me to create new flavors, control the taste and sustain inventory to match the demand without waiting on a vendor. The best part of this journey was creating my own “how to” through trial and error. There’s not much information on how to create candy hookah tips which is something I look forward to teaching in the future. My advice for all entrepreneurs don’t be afraid of mistakes it’s apart of the process.
As far as our hookahs go our vendor is local and never disappoints. I appreciate you.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
My current customers, LickMiholics, not only do they tell others but they donate part of their orders because they believe it only takes one session to prove our product, which is true.
