We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mimi Miller a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Mimi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
There was a time a few years ago when I had all these ideas. Most of them come when I’m in flow-journaling, walking on the beach or out in the ocean. A surf brand. A book. A lifestyle. And I kept saying “one day”. I had notebooks full of dreams, but I was still operating off survival mode. No clear schedule, no roadmap, just trying to stay afloat. Then one day I caught myself. I was journaling, like I always do, and I wrote, You don’t need another idea. You need a plan”.
That was the turning point.
I realized I couldn’t build what I saw in my mind without treating it like it mattered. That meant defining my values, setting boundaries, and creating a rhythm that worked for me-not some 5am grind routine, but something sustainable, soulful and real.
I started scheduling my day like I was already the CEO. I carved out time for meal preps, surfing, content, writing, rest- and I protected that time like it was sacred. I stopped talking about what I was going to do and just started moving- one small brave action at a time. That shift in energy changed everything.
Now when I go from idea to execution, I ask:
Does this align with who I am?
Is this vision rooted in my values?
Am I being about it- or just dreaming out loud?
Because the speed of implementation is how I show love to the vision. It’s not always perfect. But it’s intentional. It’s mine. Execution is both spiritual and strategic. it’s about aligning with the vision, then breaking it into steps that honor both the hustle and the healing. That’s why I created The 90 Day Journal for Creatives and Lifestyle Entrepreneurs, because I needed a framework for myself and others like me: multi-passionate, intuitive, vision driven, but also balancing real life. The journal teaches how to prep, plan, and execute while protecting your energy. It’s about turning creativity into clarity, clarity into action.
For me: the process looks like this:
1. Get Still. Listen for the soul-led idea.
2. Write it down. Map it, sketch it, speak it out.
3. Break it into small, brave steps. No perfection. Just movement.
4. Protect your frequency. Cut the noise, the fear, the doubt.
5. Trust divine timing-but stay ready. Execution is faith in motion.
Going from idea to execution isn’t always clean or linear. Some days you leap, other days you craw. But if the vision is rooted in purpose, every step matters. And I’m still stepping.

Mimi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My journey has been anything but traditional, I’m Mimi Miller: a surfer, soulpreneur, author, and Founder of She Surf- a surf inspired lifestyle brand for women who choose to live boldly, embrace beauty, and reconnect with themselves at any age.
I started surfing in my early 40’s after raising my children and building a thriving hairstyling business in Hollywood.
Surfing wasn’t just a hobby-it became my therapy, my freedom, and my fresh start. Out there in the Ocean, I found peace, power, and purpose. 11, almost 12 years ago now, I remember every time someone saw me with my surfboard they would be mesmerized, asking if I surfed. Then shouting to everyone around them they knew, “guess what?!? She Surf. That’s when She Surf was born-not just a brand, not just a hobby, it’s a lifestyle rooted in resilience, reinvention and soul. Although it started as personal lifestyle shift surfing for my mental health but the deeper I went, the more I realized it was bigger than me. It was a call to create something that represented power, beauty, and freedom for women who don’t fit the surf industry mold.
I film and edit most of all my own content (except Drone) footage. Also authored 4 books, working on my 5th , do dance trends and share wellness content- all from the lens of a mature women who’s still discovering her power.
My goal is to inspire women, especially those under 40, who are freaked out by aging, to ride their own waves, whether that’s through style, storytelling or spiritual growth. I want people to see what’s possible when you don’t let age, fear or outside expectations define you.
This is the year I show up louder, stand out bolder, and shine brighter-because our stories are needed, and I’m finally ready to be seen.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the most defining moments of my resilience didn’t look glamorous at all. It looked like me standing in my living room, trying to figure out how I was going to rebuild my life… again.
I had already raised my kids, I had built a respected business serving women in powerful positions. But deep down, I knew I needed something more-something for me. I started surfing in my 40’s not because it was trendy but because I was trying to stay afloat mentally and emotionally. It became my sanctuary. It saved me.
But choosing this path wasn’t easy I took risk most people wouldn’t. I created content that sometimes go overlooked or copied. I showed up in spaces that weren’t built with someone like me in mind- a brown skinned, curvy woman over 50, dancing, surfing, building a brand from scratch. And still-I keep going.
I kept writing, filming, posting, dreaming. Even when I didn’t get recognition. Even when the likes were low. Even when I felt invisible. Because the calling was louder than the doubt.
Resilience, to me isn’t just bouncing back, it’s choosing you, over and over again, even when no one claps yet. It’s trusting that the seeds you’re planting today will bloom-even if the harvest takes time.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Honestly, Consistency, authenticity and doing the work even when it wasn’t glamorous. I think what helped build my reputation is that I live what I create. I didn’t just build a surf brand- I got in the water. I didn’t just write a journal for entrepreneurs- I’ve done this for 30 years and have used it to rebuild my life 4 times in 3 different States. I didn’t just talk about glow-ups-I lived through some heavy waves, and still chose to show up radiant.
What People respond to is the mix of soul and strategy. I bring high quality visuals, thoughtful messaging, and a vibe that feels real-not curated for trends but rooted in truth. I’m not afraid to talk about mental health, aging, faith or failure. Those are the things that actually connect us.
I also think showing up consistently, even when others don’t immediately clap or follow builds quiet respect over time. People may not always say it, but they watch. They feel energy. And I’ve learned that staying aligned with my values, my voice and my audience-that’s what makes it last.
