Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mimi Marie. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Mimi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What was your school or training experience like? Share an anecdote or two that you feel illustrate important aspects or the overall nature of your schooling/training experience.
One of the most impactful concepts that I’ve learned in my array of nutrition trainings over the years that has stuck close to me and is foundational in the work that I do is this:
Different people need different things at different times in their lives.
We all take trainings, do programs, read books, take classes, look for answers online, etc. in our efforts to find specific answers and instructions for how to get better or healthier, how to solve our problems and be successful.
We inherently want a clear road map to guarantee our results because that gives us some sense of comfort. However, we are often terribly disappointed and feel like we’ve failed when the results don’t come or we go off track.
I feel one of the most freeing realizations and valuable beliefs in my work with women is that that there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to your health and well-being. We get to write our own story and pave our own paths on our journey to health.
I believe that the ability to give ourselves grace while finding what works for us is key to creating sustainable results in our health.
Mimi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a 45 year old mother to five children, almost all of them adults now.
Being a mom has been my greatest joy in life and drives my desire for constantly learning and growing, as well as what I put into the world.
My two oldest children are technically my brother and sister (15 & 17 years younger than me) who I began raising at the age of 17 due to the impact of alcoholism and addiction on our parents.
It has been my evolving mission over the past 30 years to show my children a different way of life so that they wouldn’t have to grow up the way that I did.
Initially, I set out to learn more about health and nutrition so that I could raise my kids to be healthy and educated about their food and lifestyle choices. That quickly evolved into something that I loved and wanted to take further into a career.
As all of my kids have gotten older, that mission has turned into a passion for also helping moms to come back to themselves and to reclaim their power over their health and happiness.
As a mother to 5, I understand the way that women give of themselves to their families and their life’s obligations so much so that we commonly put our own needs on the back burner.
My passion and my work now is to help moms learn to love themselves through nutrition, embodiment and self love practices.
Currently, I offer a 14 day nutritional cleanse as well as 3 & 6 month nutrition and lifestyle coaching programs.
My programs are designed to meet women where they are, and to implement realistic practices that they can carry forward into ongoing sustainable health, vitality and well being.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
If I had to go back any amount of time, I would absolutely choose the same field of supporting women with their health and happiness. However, the one thing that I would do differently is that I wouldn’t have waited. I would have invested more in my confidence and I would have owned what I have to offer sooner. I would have trusted what others were telling me sooner and I would have stayed more consistent along the way. At the same time, I know that it’s all perfect and part of the process of learning. I am right where I’m supposed to be :)
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe this is something that never stops – networking, cultivating and connecting with other women who are on the same or similar missions is the most valuable thing we can do for our own personal growth and support, as well as for the growth and support of our businesses. If we can transform the idea of being in competition with others to being in collaboration with them, our potential for success both personally and professionally is expounded. I am absolutely in love with this aspect of running my own practice. The connections are priceless and incredibly empowering. We can learn so much from each other!
