We recently connected with Mimi Francis and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Mimi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
It’s difficult to nail down the exact moment I realized I wanted to be a professional writer. I have always loved writing and as a child, I’m sure I dreamed of being a writer.
I think the idea of pursuing writing as a profession began to solidify for me during the pandemic. I was a at home with nothing else to do but write. My writing really took off. The ideas came fast and furious. As time went on, I began to consider publishing my work. If other people could do, so could I. I dedicated myself to writing a full-length book. I also promised myself if the moment came available, I would submit it to a publisher or agent.

Mimi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a professional author. I write contemporary romance and I currently have seven books published, with two more coming in 2024. I am also in the process of writing a paranormal romance, which I am very excited to get out into the world.
I have always been a writer. I carried a notebook with me as a teenager, using it to journal and write short stories. When I was older, I discovered fan fiction and I fell in love with writing it. I wrote fan fiction for almost eight years, focusing on my favorite TV shows and movies. With a lot of encouragement from friends and family, I decided to try writing original fiction.
I think what sets me apart from other writers is the relationships I build between my characters and the way I take turn tropes on their head. I love to use common tropes in my books, but I also like to give them a twist people might not expect.
I am extremely proud of the stories I have created. I have a created a fictional town set in Montana (my Loves of Lakeside series) and it is so incredibly fun and rewarding to write. I love creating worlds and the people who live in them.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think the most rewarding aspect of being a writer is the connections I make with the people who read my books. I love talking stories and storytelling. I will never shy away from a conversation about reading, regardless if we are discussing my books or someone else’s books.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to have fun! While writing is my business, I still want it to be fun. I enjoy meeting other authors, hanging out with readers, and discussing all things books. I don’t ever want writing to feel like work; I hope it continues to be something I love to do.
