Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Milton Jackson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Milton, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I first knew I wanted pursue this path professionally when I had done my first stage show. We wrapped up the final series of shows and it sank in that it was the last one, but I just couldn’t wait to go out there again. It was a great show, in a great atmosphere, being both put on and consumed by great people. Also my parents were in the crowd one of those nights. It surprised me because I don’t think i said too much about the show to them, just that I was in it. And I think after they saw the time, effort, and passion I put into it and gave their support, I knew this was where I needed to be.

Milton, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
To make a long story short, I didn’t know where I wanted to be career wise, I was tired of school and ready to come home. My mom suggested I try acting, so I changed my major to theatre performance, did not enjoy it, changed again to TV/Film production, and somehow along the course found my way back on stage. I then fell in love with it and the rest was history.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
For me, my goal on this creative journey is to do what I love and love what I do. I feel like a lot of times life gets in the way and kind of deters or discourages people from following their dreams or creative pursuits. And that can make a person unhappy. I realized I don’t want that for my life. I’m at my happiest when I’m creating, and I’ve found something in acting that allows me to do just that. And I love every moment I get to do it.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is being able to see the reactions of a finished product, and know the detail and effort and time put in to achieve it. Whether it be gut busting laughter, tears, or just an escape from reality for a couple hours, it’s a feeling that I can’t put a value on. I get the privilege to entertain and tell stories alongside individuals who love this industry as much as I do, if not more in some cases. And the feedback from those who come to watch is truly amazing. That’s what I love most about what I do.
