Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Millicent Compton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Millicent, thanks for joining us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
I started my own virtual assistant company, Transcend Solutions LLC, in October 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic. It was a challenging time for me, as I had lost my previous job due to the lockdown. However, I decided to take this opportunity to pursue my dream of running my own business.
I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur, but I never had the courage or the resources to do so. Looking back, I wish I had started earlier, when I was younger and more fearless. I think that being in your early to mid-twenties gives you an advantage in terms of risk-taking and innovation. At that age you normally don’t worry about things like health or financial security as much as when you are older.
Nevertheless, I have accomplished a lot with Transcend Solutions LLC and even though this experience has been grueling, I wouldn’t change a thing. Looking forward, I am eager to face new challenges and opportunities that will enhance and expand my business.

Millicent, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
The idea of becoming a virtual assistant came about while helping a relative with their small business. I realized that many other business owners needed help but couldn’t afford to hire staff full time or had issues finding someone they didn’t have to spend time training. I decided to use my skills and knowledge from various fields to support small businesses.
Some of the services I offer are data entry, invoicing, calendar, and email management. I can also help you develop a plan of action to optimize your productivity and grow your business. I understand the challenges and stress that small business owners face and I am here to assist you in any way I can.
I pride myself on providing high quality services with excellent results at reasonable costs. I am flexible, reliable, and efficient. My passion is to help small business owners excel and transcend their business to the next level.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Being an entrepreneur is not an easy path, and it takes a lot of courage and perseverance. You might see some entrepreneurs on social media who seem to have it all, but they don’t tell you the whole story. They don’t tell you how hard they work, how much they sacrifice, and how many challenges they face. Being an entrepreneur means working long hours, sometimes more than 12 hours a day. You might have to give up some of the things you enjoy, like hanging out with friends or family. Being an entrepreneur can also affect your health and well-being. You might feel stressed, anxious, or depressed. You might doubt yourself and your skills. You might feel like giving up. I know I did. But I’m glad I didn’t. I’m grateful for the people who supported me along the way. They helped me stay focused and motivated. They helped me overcome the obstacles and keep going. I want to inspire other entrepreneurs to do the same. If you love what you do, don’t let anything stop you. There will be difficulties, but you will get through them. I suggest that you find people who will encourage you and help you grow. They will make your journey more enjoyable and rewarding.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best sources that have worked for getting me new clients are Google and word of mouth. Google helps me reach people who are searching for my services online, and word of mouth helps me build trust and credibility with referrals from happy customers.
