We were lucky to catch up with Milla recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Milla, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I didn’t start to learn anything about music until I decided to stop paying someone to do it for me. Meaning; studio time, recording, mixing, mastering, cover art, etc… The person recording me most of the time was a good friend so I was comfortable with asking him to teach me how to do all these things. With in a year I was fully self sufficient and the freedom that came with it is such an asset. Requiring that skill showed me how much I was in my own way because now I don’t have to wait on anyone and have full control of anything I create. I can record a song, mix it on the spot, and put it in mastering while doing the cover art. Turning a 2-3 week period into a 24 hour turn around

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
To start it off, let me introduce myself. I’m Milla. I’m an artist from Orlando, FL that has been doing music since 2017. I’m one part of an entertainment called Faded Amor and I make rap music. Rap has been a big part of my life since MySpace and AIM first came out. I fell in love with it and knew I wanted to be a part of it. Listening to Em, lil Wayne, Nas, and 50. I was sucked into the stories and rhyme patterns, eventually making some of my own. Years of listening and learning about the game brought me to today where I run a studio with 3 other artists called Hillside Studios, put out 2 albums, 2 EP’s, multiple music videos, and performed for major acts. At Hillside we offer recording/mixing/music videos/ and more. I take pride in being hands on with my projects, and it shows. My most recent album “Against The Grain” is proof that hard work, persistence and dedication pays off. It’s some of the best music I have made to date and it’s only the beginning. Im already in the stages of my next album which will be determined for a later date. It’s all about the music for me. Music is what I do it for because music is what moves me the most.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Stop capping. What’s best for a thriving ecosystem to actually show support instead of saying they do. No one puts on for the city. Orlando is a beautiful place but sometimes it feels like you don’t get support from here until you travel out and people start to miss you. A lot FOMO. We gotta come together and support the people in front of us. Tell me the last time you bought the homie’s album? Streamed the song? Bought a ticket to their showcase? (If you have done any of these things then we need more people like you.) What I’m saying is that we need to take it farther then a IG story post.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
