We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mileydy Ferrari a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Mileydy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear stories from your time in school/training/etc.

I’ve been working as an esthetician for 13 years, and during that time, I’ve undergone various training programs in different countries such as Peru, Argentina, Spain, and the United States. However, my experience significantly changed when I moved to the United States. It was a challenge for me to adapt to a new culture and language. I enrolled in a facial class, but I wasn’t aware that the course would be conducted in English. When I arrived, I discovered that I was the only student who didn’t speak English fluently. Despite this initial difficulty, it turned out to be a valuable opportunity for me to confront my fears and improve both my English language skills and facial techniques. As a result of these experiences, I can now confidently communicate with English-speaking clients, which has expanded my client base.

Mileydy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Mileydy Ferrari, owner of Beauty Express Skincare LLC, and I have been working as an esthetician for 13 years. Ever since I was young, I had a passion for esthetician treatments, and when I finished school, I knew this was the career I wanted to pursue. I searched for a reputable school in Argentina and received specialized training in dermatology to expand my knowledge and expertise. As I delved deeper into the field, I decided to further my education by pursuing additional specializations in the United States.

As an esthetician, my primary responsibility is to take care of my clients’ skin. I provide facial treatments tailored to their specific needs. I believe that facials are not just a luxury, but a necessity due to the importance of maintaining healthy and vibrant skin. I also educate my clients on proper at-home skincare routines to help them maintain the results achieved during their treatments.

In my practice, I offer a wide range of facial and advanced treatments for all skin types. This includes anti-aging treatments like radio frequency, microcurrent, and microneedling, which help to rejuvenate the skin. I also provide targeted treatments for various skin concerns, such as peeling for spots and blemishes. I am proud to say that I keep up with the latest technologies and techniques in the industry to provide the best possible care to my clients.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?

Even if I had the opportunity to choose another profession, I would still choose being an esthetician without a second thought. This is not just a job for me; it is my passion. When I work in this field, it doesn’t feel like work at all. I genuinely enjoy what I do, especially because it allows me to help others, and that brings me immense satisfaction. There’s truly no other feeling quite like it. One of my defining qualities is being honest and transparent with all my clients. I believe in being genuine and setting realistic expectations for the results they desire. I take the time to explain the process step by step, ensuring that they understand what to expect throughout their journey.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

When I arrived in the country, I faced a significant challenge because my esthetician license was not valid. I found myself questioning whether I should continue pursuing my dream career or consider changing professions. However, throughout this tough period, my family stood by my side and provided unwavering support. I decided to enroll in another school and start my studies from scratch. It was a journey of perseverance and determination. Eventually, after putting in the hard work and dedication, I finally obtained my valid esthetician license. This experience taught me the importance of resilience and the support of loved ones. Despite the obstacles I encountered, I remained committed to my passion for esthetics, and with the encouragement of my family, I overcame the challenges and achieved my goal of obtaining a valid license.
