We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Miles Lawson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Miles, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you wish you had started sooner?
I have had the desire to be an actor since I was 7 years old. I wish I started earlier in my childhood I do sometimes think If I started as a child actor by now I would be way ahead in the industry by now, But then I also believe everything happens for a reason and God knows exactly what I need and where I need to be at in life.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As a child I was always a old soul or as some people would say to me I was ” ahead of my years ” meaning that I was young but I had a soul that was old. I used to watch the great late Richard Pryor all the time with my dad. The first movie I can recall watching from him was called ” Which Way Is Up ” I remembered just laughing so much from him as I child. I pictured myself in a movie doing all the comedic and dramatic things he was doing. I was inspired heavily by him, Another artist who inspired my acting desires was Jim Carrey, I remembered seeing him play in the iconic classic film ” The Mask ” , I knew who then on I wanted to become a entertainer I would was my life desire. My mother Tracy Riggins always supported my dreams I love her dearly she is definitely still my biggest inspiration of them all.
I remember I was 7 years old when I started writing drama play scripts I used to love to write and imagine different characters and start to embody them in my head. I was born and raised in Rochester, New York. There was not a lot of opportunities for performing arts there. I struggled finding creative things to help myself grow more, I knew when I went off to college I would want to study acting. In 2019 I started college at Savannah College of Art & Design ( SCAD ) and studied Performing Arts.
One of the most things I’m proud of is how authentic I am , and how I stay true to my dreams and goals, even though I have went though some tough patches as expected I have never loss hope and faith on my career.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
People love me because I am who I am online and offline. I can meet someone on social media and then see them in person and act the way the same as I did on social media. I am aware of myself and not afraid to be myself. I think in today’s society people try so hard to fit in, I have never wanted to fit in I always wanted to stand out and become the best I could be I have never wanted to keep up with anybody but Me. I think audience appreciates that and respects me for it.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I think non-creatives love to tell people that are creatives ” go get a real job ” I hate when people say this, People will never understand how hard it is to be a creative person, It is seriously and truly much harder than a regular 9-5pm. People underestimate how much money is spent being a creative examples for a self-tape when sending in an audition, You need good lighting and good video quality, so just right there I would need to spend money on buying good lights that go well with my skin so ring lights and etc also I would need a professional camera of course those are expensive. In addition to rebrand myself and establish myself as a professional I would need to get professional headshots , get into more training acting classes and the list can go on and on. Imagine spending thousands of dollars and nothing is promised. There is no job security as a creative, We have to wake up everyday and get at it and try to produce our best work each and everyday.
Also I’m a host of my own podcast show called ” Till The Sun Comes… ” It’s on every major podcast platform everywhere.
I want to master everything in life, I want my name to be out everywhere of course for the good reasons.
