Miles, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
The fashion industry is currently witnessing several key trends. Sweatsuits and loungewear continue to dominate as comfort is very important. Bold prints, vibrant colors, and relaxed silhouettes are also gaining popularity. The COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted the rise of comfort-focused fashion trends. Sales of loungewear increased due to people spending more time at home. High fashion brands adapted to the demand for comfort by incorporating more comfortable fabrics into their designs. Additionally, another significant trend is sustainability. Consumers are increasingly seeking eco-friendly and ethically produced clothing. Many fashion brands are responding by using sustainable materials and more transparent supply chains.


Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started my brand, Be Empowered Clothing, with the mission to inspire young students and entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams. At just 12 years old, I created the logo and started out with a line of kid’s shirts. My primary goal was to encourage other children to maximize their creativity and build their own businesses. Over time, I began to expand my inventory to include both adult and children’s clothing to cater to a broader audience. Currently, Be Empowered Clothing is known for its high-quality, comfortable, and stylish designs that empower individuals to express themselves confidently.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I started my clothing brand as a kids’ brand but I quickly realized that some of my teenage customers wear adult sizes. This insight led me to pivot and expand my offerings to include adult and children’s clothing. Additionally, I was able to cater to a broader audience. Starting as a 12 year old designer, my customers and peers have had changes in overall style and preference. As fashion trends change it is important that I continue to make necessary pivots.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Networking has been very important for me building my reputation. My merchandise being featured at large events and in malls in the metropolitan area help build the brand and gain followers. The most important tool for building a reputation has been social media marketing. By leveraging social networking platforms like Instagram and Facebook, I was able to connect with my audience, create an online presence, and showcase my designs. Participating in community events has also played a crucial role in establishing my brand’s credibility and further expanding its reach.
