Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Milena Mikić. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Milena, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry.
One of the biggest trends I’m seeing in the industry is the shift toward immersive websites and experiences. We’re moving beyond traditional static pages or simple scrolling. With advancements in technologies like WebGL, 3JS, and animation, websites are becoming far more interactive, dynamic, and cinematic. It feels like we’re at the beginning of something really exciting, almost reminiscent of the sci-fi worlds we’ve seen in movies — where digital spaces are alive, and users aren’t just passive readers but active participants in an unfolding story. For example, I worked on a project where we used 3D animation to walk users through a brand’s history, making it more engaging and memorable versus just typical, static content.
The challenge with these experiences is performance — loading all that data seamlessly across different devices can be tricky. But I think in a few years, this will be the standard. The technology is evolving quickly, and as it becomes more efficient, immersive websites will be the norm, not the exception. The opportunities to create more engaging, emotional connections with users are huge. We’re seeing the future of the web unfold right before us.

Milena, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve always been drawn to creating — whether it was through drawing, painting, or anything that allowed me to express myself. Growing up in Serbia, I started experimenting with digital art as a hobby, and it was clear early on that I loved working with visuals. Over time, what began as a passion for art naturally evolved into graphic design, and as I developed my skills, I realized there was more to my approach than just the creative side. I have an analytical mind as well, which led me to discover product design — a space where creativity and strategy come together.
Now, as a digital product designer, I get to combine both of these worlds. I work on everything from developing creative branding to web design, app development, and building digital platforms. I believe design should always be rooted in the real needs of a company and its customers. My process starts with understanding the essence of the brand, the people behind it, and the users it serves. Then, I use real data from the company and translate that into intuitive, meaningful designs that solve problems and supports customers.
I’m passionate about creating experiences that feel authentic and human, not just functional. When clients work with me, they can expect a design that reflects their mission and resonates with their audience. It’s important to me that every project is aligned with the heart of the company — its values, its people, and the people it serves. Designing with impact is the work that excites me.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
That’s a great question, and honestly, I think this is a common experience in our industry. Every other day, I come across tools or resources that I wish I had known about sooner. The digital design and product space is constantly evolving, and that’s one of the things I love about it — the innovation never stops.
I’ve learned that the key to staying ahead is to stay curious and embrace that constant learning. You just have to explore, whether it’s diving into new technologies or thinking differently when you hit a roadblock. One resource that of course comes to mind is AI — specifically, how it’s helping with conceptual creation and documentation. There are tools now that can assist with the repetitive, time-consuming tasks I used to dread doing manually, like generating ideas or drafting documentation. It’s a game-changer because it frees up more time for creativity and allows me to focus on the parts of the design process I’m most passionate about.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the ability to take what’s in my mind and bring it to life. It’s so fulfilling to take an idea, whether it’s a design, a brand concept, or a product, and see it evolve into something tangible. What makes it even more rewarding is knowing that my work helps others and moves businesses forward. There’s a deep satisfaction in having a role that makes that type of impact.
I’ve also found that art and design are a way to communicate in ways that words often can’t. I can struggle with verbal communication at times, but through my work, I easily express my ideas. The process of crafting something visually or conceptually that speaks to others is a big part of why I love what I do.
Ultimately, being able to combine creativity with purpose is what makes this work so fulfilling for me.
