Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mila Lopez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mila, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Looking back on your career, have you ever worked with a great leader or boss? We’d love to hear about the experience and what you think made them such a great leader.
Throughout my life, from childhood to medical school and now as a practicing physician, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have had mentors who shaped not just my career, but my character. Among the most influential are my classical Indian dance guru, Mrs. Priyamvada Sankar, and my classical Indian music guru, Dr. Usha Srinivasan. Their mentorship instilled in me the core values of patience, discipline, focused practice, and the ability to receive feedback with humility–qualities that have guided me far beyond the stage or the studio. Learning the ancient art forms of Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music demands more than technical mastery. It requires a resilient mindset and the ability to connect deeply with emotion and storytelling. Under their guidance, I learned to refine my craft while also cultivating mental fortitude and an unwavering drive toward excellence.
One of the most defining milestones of my artistic training came at the age of 15, when I was selected to perform my Arangetram; a three-hour solo debut performance that marks a classical dancer’s official “ascent to the stage.” This performance is not just a rite of passage in the Indian classical tradition–it’s a testament to the years of rigorous training under one’s guru and a declaration of readiness to carry the tradition forward independently. Preparing for this performance required me to train over 20 hours a week while simultaneously balancing a demanding International Baccalaureate curriculum. I was pushed to my physical and mental limits, and in the process, I discovered a new level of stamina, focus, and inner resilience that has stayed with me throughout every chapter of my life.
Those same strengths have helped me navigate life as a mother of three, earn double board-certification in Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine, launch my own medical practice, and still carve out time for my lifelong passions–dance and music!
I truly believe that investing in expert coaching is essential for reaching any goal–whether you’re an athlete, an executive, or someone striving to improve their health. As a Primary Care and Lifestyle Medicine physician, I take a coaching-centered approach with my patients. Together, we identify their vision for whole-person wellness and build sustainable habits that align with that vision. My role is to empower, guide, and support them, just as my gurus did for me.

Mila, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Dr. Mila Lopez, a double board-certified physician in Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine, and the founder of Luxury Lifestyle Medicine™, a modern direct primary care (DPC) and lifestyle medicine practice based in Scottsdale, Arizona.
My path into medicine has always been deeply rooted in service, connection, and a reverence for the human body’s capacity to heal. From an early age, I was drawn to both science and the arts–two disciplines that demand precision, discipline, and deep empathy. I trained rigorously in classical Indian dance and music, which shaped my appreciation for tradition, resilience, and the power of storytelling through movement. Those values have never left me, they now echo in the way I practice medicine: as an art form grounded in science.
After over a decade working in traditional insurance-based healthcare, I saw firsthand how fragmented, rushed, and impersonal that system can be, especially when it comes to prevention and true healing. I realized that I couldn’t practice the kind of medicine I believed in within that model. I wanted to give my patients the time, attention, and personalized care they truly deserve. That’s what led me to create Luxury Lifestyle Medicine™.
Our practice offers direct primary care memberships with a concierge-level experience to tweens, teens ages 12 and up, adults and seniors. For one transparent fee, my patients receive direct after-hours access to me and unlimited visits for comprehensive primary care as well as evidence-based lifestyle medicine services that address the root causes of chronic disease. No co-pays, no deductibles, just good quality care! My care covers a broad range of health services– from annual physicals, acute visits, chronic/metabolic disease management, weight loss management, mental health support, women’s health/GYN exams, men’s health, teen health, sexual health, post-hospital coordination, to culinary medicine, longevity consults, preoperative optimization, and personalized wellness plans grounded in nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, and social connection.
What sets my practice apart is the intentional blend of science, lifestyle, personalization, and elevated patient experience. This is healthcare reimagined for the modern adult (and their family)–accessible, luxurious, proactive, and deeply human. I see my patients virtually and in person, and I make house calls when appropriate. I also design lifestyle prescriptions that extend beyond a prescription pad, sometimes involving nutrition coaching, mindfulness practices, fitness strategy, or even aesthetic and environmental wellness.
My proudest achievement is building a practice that aligns with my values, one that supports my patients and allows me to show up fully for my family and my passions. As a mother of three, I know what it means to juggle life’s demands while trying to prioritize health. I bring that perspective into every patient encounter.
At its heart, Luxury Lifestyle Medicine™ is about creating a sacred, trusted space where patients feel seen, heard, and empowered. It’s for people who are tired of reactive, transactional healthcare and are ready to invest in a proactive, sustainable, and joyful approach to well-being.
If you’re someone who values both the science of medicine and the art of living well, I’d love to be your partner on that journey!

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Honestly, I think it comes down to consistency, transparency, kindness, and really personalizing the care I give. I try to communicate clearly, treat people with respect, and just be myself–normal, real, and human! I think people appreciate that. Since moving to Arizona in 2018, I’ve felt incredibly supported by both my professional community and my patients. I’ve been lucky to build strong relationships, and word of mouth has played a big role. I’m also honored to have been voted a Phoenix Magazine’s Top Doctor five years in a row! It means a lot to me!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele–and more importantly, building long-term, trusting relationships–has been providing an exceptional, personalized patient experience. From the moment someone joins Luxury Lifestyle Medicine™, I personally welcome them into the practice. Every touchpoint is intentional, from the warm and comfortable environment they walk into, to the way they’re treated with kindness, respect, and genuine connection.
During visits, I’m fully present. I don’t sit behind a screen or type on a computer–I make eye contact, listen closely, and let my patients know they’re truly being seen and heard. I meet people exactly where they are, adapting my approach to fit their needs and goals.
I treat my patients like family. I personally follow up with them, check in on their lives, celebrate their wins, and support them through their challenges. That level of care and connection has not only helped grow my practice, it’s created a community of people who feel cared for, supported, and empowered!
