We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mikkel Emery. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mikkel below.
Alright, Mikkel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
All my life, I have taken risks in the pursuit of doing something bigger than what most expect. Following your dreams and sticking to them comes at a price, and that price may be losing people along the way.
I have moved all over the country and continued Another Mans Trash with many members, and very good close friends who share my vision with me.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Mik,
I started Another Mans Trash when I was in Highschool in Las Vegas, NV.
Since then I have relocated to many different states, meeting new people, ALOT of people, most notably Las Vegas, NV, Kalamazoo, MI, Charleston, SC, and most recently Grand Rapids, MI.
This includes over a decade of hand-made merch, self promotion, networking, marketing, and learning and losing along the way.
But god does it feel right doing and standing for what you believe in.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
ENGAGE.
Engagement is not just a fancy social media term, It’s so important to engage with whom you support.
Show up to shows, buy their merch, leave their album on repeat, ask them if there is anything you can do, like their status’s, SHARE their post’s.
Networking is so important because we need to help each-other… well… help each-other!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
You can’t make everybody happy.
This includes friends, lovers, strangers, enemies, bands, businesses, artists, supporters, etc.
It’s just not possible.
I have spent too much of my time focused on how I/my brand is represented to the public that I almost forgot to take care of #1.
Once you start taking care of yourself, you’ll see who sticks around.
