Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mikhael Ricks. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mikhael, appreciate you joining us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
As an ex professional athlete when I got I to the personal training field all I wanted to train was athletes. My program manager at that time asked me a simple question. Who will you train once these athletes go back to their teams and there is no one to work with? She told me I should focus on the general population of people that have 9-5 jobs and businesses that you know you’ll see 3-5 days a week. Changing my mentality changed my career path.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
After playing football I didn’t know what my career path should be. Matter of fact a lot of athletes struggle with what their second career should be. I wanted to play football again so bad because that’s all I knew. So I went back to train. After a few months of training correctly, I felt the best I’ve ever felt and from that day I decided that’s what I wanted to do. After 20+ years I’m one of the most sought after Fitness Coaches in Florida. I focus on corrective exercises, sports training, small group training and programming. My main goal I. The fitness industry is to help people love pain free and to get them stronger and try to think about getting outside their comfort zone.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I like to call them the 5 P’s
1) Personality
2) Patience
3) Positivity
4) Persistence
5) Programming
Mastering these “P’s” will help you succeed to heights you could never imagine. It takes some time and everyone’s meaning of the above is different. When you apply them the sky’s the limit.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
I would do it all over again. I look back and wish I had more confidence to ask for help and not be afraid to learn and build from there.
