Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mike Jones. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Mike thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, folks often look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight – but that often obscures all the nitty, gritty details of everything that went into the growth phase of your business. We’d love to hear about your scaling story and how you scaled up?
I scaled up my business by quality rather than quantity. It is easy to perform more transactions to get to a a higher level but it is more effective to establish relationships through these transactions that are of value. I seek out to go to social events of different cultures and ethnic backgrounds. It is important to diversify my network base to ensure I am being of value to others. In that, I starting teaching Commerical Real Estate courses that allows me to be a subject matter expert in my field. As a result, I am referred deals as opposed to me having to go out there and get them.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into real estate in the market was down back in 2009. At that time, banks were not lending and it was hard to get someone approved for real estate. I used that difficult market to gain experience so when the market came back up I was prepared. I started off as a real estate agent helping families purchase a new home. From there, I started to teaching the pre-licensing courses for real estate agents as an Adjunct Professor for Dallas Colleges. A few years later I gained interest in Commerical Real Estate and from there my business reached a higher level. I am proud of the various clients and colleagues in the industry that helped me tap into this market. As a result, I am working on building generational wealth through commercial developments.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
95% of my business is referrals and repeat clients.
