We were lucky to catch up with Mike Goldstein recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mike, thanks for joining us today. Crazy stuff happening is almost as certain as death and taxes – it’s technically “unexpected” but something unexpected happening is to be expected and so can you share a crazy story with our readers
I once got asked for a pedicab ride while trying to take a bathroom break at a local bar during a busy weekend. It was a friends family friend who sought me out. I was surprised but humbled too. Now I just get recognized all around town but that was definitely a first for me!

Mike, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I took over my dad’s pedicab company in 2018 (he started it in 2012). We are kicking off our 11th year in business as I’m writing this. I didn’t expect to be a business owner at 30 let alone pedal people around on a pedicab (basically a 3 wheel bicycle carriage). We provide fun and safe rides day or night around the FSU campus area, FSU Collegetown, Gaines Street, Railroad Square and Cascades Park. We also offer tours in those areas. We have become a university and city stable and have affordable marketing opportunities as well.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
We managed to get through the pandemic years thanks to community support and local/state/national grants. We also got recognized with numerous awards and nominations over the years as too!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Right before the pandemic we pivoted more towards marketing in addition to rides/tours and events. Sponsored rides help keep the cost of rides for people down while getting our sponsors social media recognition and helping get people around safely especially at night!
Our monthly sponsored shirts are popular are get sponsors logo out every month!
Our monthly banners on the pedicabs are also good ice breakers.
