We recently connected with Mike De’Cole and have shared our conversation below.
Mike, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
When I realized nothing else I did made me feel or gave me life like when I created something that made ppl feel their feelings
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a R&B singer Originally from Chicago but came to Minnesota in my teenage years, I fell in love with music at a very early age but didn’t start my career until 11yrs ago after writing my first song that gained attention from Verizon mobile and Canada music institutions and it was at that moment I felt I could do it as a career, my most proud moment was being on London Charts with 2 of my songs a year ago and then finally getting over there to perform a year after charting because of Covid my trip was postponed but I made it and it was amazing.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Being appreciated overseas has given me a new burst of excitement and enthusiasm, it’s kinda like going back in time where they appreciate music of substance and talent and they support on the strength of its good not because you’re greasing someone’s palm and that makes me motivated to give my best.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding thing is creating a idea from thin air from a melody in your head and a feeling and emotion you’re going through and making it feel tangible because when someone hears it and they truly feel it because they felt those feelings.
