Hi Mike, thanks for joining us today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
I remember going to a Halloween party to support one of my high school friend’s DJ career right when I started my business in 2019.
I ran into one of my good childhood friends, Keith, at the party and he asked what I do for a living.
Instead of the boring “I am a *job title* response. I said “I help small business owners with marketing and lead generation.”
It sparked his interest. He started to ask more questions about how and what I did. Then he mentioned another one of our friends had a new startup that needed help. He re-connected us and I went to meet in-person.
We scoped out a marketing projects and contracted within 2 weeks. I remember feeling so empowered because I went from employee to business owner all because of a simple conversation where I told a friend who I help!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Mike Blumenthal and I am a lifelong learner and Founder at SaaS Lead Flow (saasleadflow.io)
In college I was fortunate enough to intern for some amazing business owners and generate results for their business in terms of leads and paying customers. My work ethic and results put me in a position to help build and gorw tech companies in their portfolio. I used a variety of marketing and sales methods like email and SEO to grow their businesses. Soon thereafter they trusted me to be in charge of entire growth teams.
At SaaS Lead Flow, we build out lead generation and sales systems for business owners that need help generating more leads, creating more pipeline, and closing more deals. Particularly, I focus on tech companies and service-based businesses.
Nearly every business owner NEEDS more qualified leads for their business. Rarely do I meet a company that says “we don’t need any more customers”. The systems I implement for my clients is able to authentically reach out to thousands of potential customers on their behalf every month. From there, we book them into calls and close deals.
The differentiator for my business is that we have the ability to craft a winning business strategy for clients AND execute it at a high-level. Furthermore, I build a Revenue Operations Asset for the business, so I’m not just a service provider. The part of my business that I am most proud of is that every day I get to help small business owners live their dream of building a strong, cash-flowing business.
If you are a small business owner, you need to hire people to do the things you are not an expert at. Have you ever had to pivot?
One powerful lesson I have learned is that you are better off preparing instead of planning. You cannot plan for big life events or changes to happen, but if you are prepared, you can handle them gracefully.
My business and life had a major change when my mom was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer in 2020. I stopped working on a lot of projects and focused on being with my family instead.
Coming out of the grief of losing my Mom, I knew my purpose was to help people. This was the gift she passed down to me.
I thought I wanted to be a business / performance coach. For about 6 months months, I worked with top performers and helped them achieve their personal and business goals. Even though my clients achieved great results, I was not fulfilled.
I realized that I wanted to be in the game with them. Being a coach on the sideline was not enough to fulfill me and so I decided to step in and start helping businesses with my lead generation services again.
The SaaS Lead Flow service has created my ideal business day and allows me to work with who I want on what I want. It’s my life’s purpose and I am so happy to discover why I am here.

Conversations about M&A are often focused on multibillion dollar transactions – but M&A can be an important part of a small or medium business owner’s journey. We’d love to hear about your experience with selling businesses.
In fall 2023, I helped two founders sell their AI business for 6-figures. It was a really special moment for all of us because we took the business from idea to a real sellable company in only a few months. The founders were even featured on the front-page of CNBC with their story.
From concept to cash in 6 months – we helped take DimeADozen.ai from a simple tool to a cash exit.
There were 3 core lessons from the acquisition that I want to share.
1) Listen to your paying customers.
In the beginning, DimeADozen.ai had 10 different types of reports.
The one that kept selling every day? The business report.
The signal from the market told us that this report was worth paying for and we should double down on marketing that report to business owners and entrepreneurs.
2) Test different marketing channels
Throughout our time building the business, we tested about 6-8 different channels. We also measured which channels worked well and which ones did not. This allowed us to focus on marketing efforts that had ROI and created traction.
3) Nobody will sell your business for you
When we decided it was time to sell the business, we were marketing it all over the internet. X, Newsletters, Acquire.com, etc.
Before we started marketing the sale, we had very little interest and even fewer chances to sell it for our target price.
The traction began when we let everyone know the business was for sale AND shared the potential it could have for the new buyer. In the end, we were fortunate enough to find an amazing buyer that I still work with to this day.
