We were lucky to catch up with Mikaela Miranda recently and have shared our conversation below.
Mikaela, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
One day I was on TikTok and I saw something called Ugc. I had no idea what it was And I was super interested on seeing how it worked because it seemed very different from being an influencer. I was working at a restaurant at the time and I wanted to be my own. I’ve always had a love for beauty and things of that nature as well as a love for content, creation, and filming! So I figured this was absolutely perfect. As I did more research, I started to build my portfolio and I was on the way to getting my first client within the first month! It has definitely been an up and downhill battle, but I have built my Ugc business and through that I have found my love for filming in person. I have always been intrigued with traveling and food and beverage, so now I do content for bars, restaurants, and hotels and airbnbs around the world! I am obsessed with showing people the best places to eat, drink, and stay around the world as well as the best products to use, that’s where my Ugc and Love for travel combine

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into doing content creation because I was sick of being told what to do by somebody else, and I really felt that my creative side was being put down. There was no room for me to grow creatively, and I couldn’t take it anymore. With doing content creation, I get to travel the world and try new foods, drinks, and products almost every day and share them with people all over the world because of Ugc and content creation, this is what makes me genuinely happy because I have always been a type a personality and I love making lists and itineraries and siphoning out the best places to go and best products to use. So if I can make someone else’s life easier by doing the work for them, that’s what makes me truly happy.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Honestly, with everybody who starts their own business, you have to definitely go through a bunch of ups and downs. There were times where I barely felt like I was getting any clients and I was working up to 12 hours per day trying to get new clients and nothing was budging. I took a step back and stopped doing Ugc for about three months, then I realized how much I truly missed it, and I pivoted my content to be more personal. When I decided to put my personality and creative side into it, everything changed.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One lesson that I had to unlearn was the typical job schedule. No more 9 to 5, or even atypical restaurant shift to truly get good at your craft. It takes some time with no days off, and really learning the ins and outs of The business. The typical work schedule and realize that I wanted to run my own business. You work hard you play hard
