We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Miguel Rosas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Miguel below.
Miguel, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, folks often look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight – but that often obscures all the nitty, gritty details of everything that went into the growth phase of your business. We’d love to hear about your scaling story and how you scaled up?
It all started back in 2015. After living in New Orleans for two years, I finally returned to my home state, Georgia, and settled back in Atlanta. I began 6th grade at a new school, which was a nerve-wracking experience for me as an antisocial kid who didn’t know anyone. Thankfully, one student introduced himself to me when I walked into class, and we’ve remained friends ever since. He showed me some anime edits he made on Vine, and I was immediately captivated by the visuals. That day, I downloaded Vine, eager to watch more of those 6-second edits. Inspired, I decided to learn how to create my own edits.
After months of learning how to download anime episodes and split clips on my phone, I finally made my first video and uploaded it to Vine. I started following other creators, and one day, Someone by the name of Adrian reached out and took the time to teach me new editing techniques, and I remain grateful to him. Unfortunately, Vine shut down in 2017, and I lost contact with Adrian. Despite my efforts to reach out on Instagram and Facebook, he never responded, but I hope he’s doing well. Adrian also gave me the name YEM, which I’ve used for the past seven years.
Another person who inspired me was my cousin Emanuel, who used to vlog for his YouTube channel. I found it fascinating and wanted to try it myself. Even though I couldn’t afford a camera, I started capturing videos with my phone. Eventually, I saved up money from a part-time job i took when i was in high school and bought my first camera. I was thrilled, but I soon realized I didn’t have a computer for editing. Undeterred, I continued using my phone and took advantage of my high school’s editing class, where Mr. Love taught me how to use Adobe software.
I finally bought a decent laptop and started filming my friends’ cars for practice. By 2018/2019, I stepped out of my comfort zone and became more social, thanks to a local car event called “Wheel Wednesdays.” My videos gained recognition, and my Instagram following grew. I created a YouTube channel and started attending larger car events like Clean Culture and SlammedEnuff. I traveled to different shows in surrounding states, and my work gained even more recognition. People began asking me to film their cars for my car show after-movies.
This is just a brief overview of my journey from creating anime edits on my phone to shooting full-time for MotorCars of Atlanta, an exotic car dealership. I also continue to travel and film car shows in my spare time. Although I haven’t yet reached my ultimate goal, I’m determined to keep pushing until I do.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Around 2020, I went through a challenging period where, for six to seven months, I couldn’t book any new clients for shoots. At that time, I was charging for my work, and it seemed like people had lost interest. This setback made me consider quitting editing and filming altogether. Fortunately, I met the love of my life, who gave me the strength and motivation to keep pushing forward.
I began reaching out to different businesses, and it paid off. I landed a job in the car industry through a friend. Starting as a warehouse associate, I worked my way up to a marketing position within a year. During this time, I learned a lot about marketing and navigating social media.
After two years, I left that job and faced a month and a half of unemployment. Thankfully, I had built enough clientele to sustain myself until I found another job. That’s when I discovered MotorCars of Atlanta. It seemed like luck when I called and learned they had just opened a position for a marketing/content creator. I quickly sent in my resume, and a few weeks later, I got the job.
I’ve been a content creator for MotorCars of Atlanta for the past year and a half, and on October 14, 2024, I will celebrate my second anniversary with the company. I am incredibly grateful to MotorCars for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. This is truly a dream job, and I will always appreciate the chance they gave me. although this isn’t my actual dream job i will remain here until I’m ready to become a full time free-lancer.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I’d have to say that there’s no better feeling than seeing a client extremely happy with the work I’ve delivered. Bringing an idea or a story to life through video is incredibly rewarding. Additionally, knowing that the people who care about me are proud of my work adds an extra layer of fulfillment to my role as a videographer.
