We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Miguel Gamillo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Miguel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
3 things
The first thing and most important thing is the impact and positive influence I get to make on my family. My wife Wendy, my three children Mariah, Gisselle and Mateo.
The second goal I hope to build and leave is to continuously convert my own success into significance. Significance is helping others win. Success leaves a fingerprint on creation. While significance leaves a footprint on the soul.
The last thing is what my wife and I are currently doing with our non profit “Plant A Seed” in which we are developing a vessel of resources that will enhance, improve and empower the Latin X and Hispanic communities across the US.
I hope to be remembered as someone who was always seeking to be the best version of themselves and use that to give to people in every capacity that I can. A Go-Getter but event a better Go-Giver!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Miguel embarked on his entrepreneurial journey as a young child, accompanying his father to work in Mexico at the tender age of 11. By the time he was 22, he had become a partner-owner of Cielo Lounge, a distinguished establishment in downtown San Antonio, TX. Recognized in 2003 as one of the top 100 nightlife venues in the nation by US Weekly Magazine, Miguel’s diverse journey also encompasses roles such as the Founder of the Circle of Influence networking organization in San Antonio, TX, and his position as Partner and President at Nationwide Merchant Services banking portfolio. Presently, as the President and Managing Partner of MJ International LLC, his expertise shines in luxury real estate investment properties, international real estate development, capital investments, and strategic business collaborations. With a deep conviction that entrepreneurs channel their passions into purpose, Miguel’s colleagues view him as a transformative figure in business development, a virtuoso in his respective industries, and a pioneering thought leader of our era. Co-founder of Plant a Seed, Miguel draws inspiration from his mother, Alejandra Gamillo, whose commitment to serving the community instilled in him the profound significance of aiding those in need. In line with his values, Miguel firmly believes that the essence of life lies in serving others and, for those fortunate enough to possess more than they require, in dedicating themselves to constructing longer tables, not higher walls

Have you ever had to pivot?
I’m constantly pivoting in all of my businesses. For various reason it’s necessary to not remain stagnant and conformed. Lots of people interpret pivoting as a sign of weakness or necessity because of failure. It’s okay to change directions or plans because many times we “entrepreneurs” are hard headed and think that there’s only one way to hit our goals or destination. Direction is more important than speed but going in the right direction is key.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
My business partner for all of my businesses is my wife. I’m actually the co-founder to our non profit and she’s the founder. I met her through prayer and example. I definitely envisioned marrying the exact person I’m married to now. The way I was able to envision her was through my mother’s example. I was fortunate that those two things aligned for me.
