We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Miguel Angel Zavaleta a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Miguel Angel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
In my opinion we have to work hard because life sometimes hits hard but we have to be brave enough to ALWAYS stand up after falling. Every single failure in life we have to see it as an opportunity of growth. In my case being from a different country with a different language it’s been really complicated but at the same time, really exciting to see how business is growing and walking by itself. There’s nothing that I achieved in this life that I can’t say that was God who provided for me!
Miguel Angel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Miguel Angel Zavaleta. I’m from Peru and I’m a proud member of professional photographers of America. My photography business name is
Angel Jz photography and now starting a photobooth business called: 360 Sevier
We are running business in Sevier and Knox county on East Tennessee.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I was on my last year of my Electronic engineering carrier back in my country but I had the opportunity to start over in this country and I have to gave up my whole life and carrier. I made a promise to my father that I will study something in here so he can be proud of me and when I came here. I did studied an advanced photography course at the university of Tennessee. It was hard because of my legal estatus at the time but I made it through and now I can say that my life was meant to be in here in this country and photography is not just my life’s passion is also what I do for a living and I love it !
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
I had different jobs during my first years of living in this country and in every single job they told me that my photography business was just my hobby and I shouldn’t focus that much on it. It was really hard because I never believed that and I always took my photography business seriously and for my was my priority. I’m not happy to say that I lost many jobs but Thankfully now I can do what I love as my main job and I finally made it. Thanks to GOD again!
