We recently connected with Mid Official and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mid, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
For me personally. I think it takes belief in God first and foremost. Followed by belief in yourself, and belief that god gave you your certain gifts, talents, and attributes for a reason. You also have to have faith, and the courage to pursue your dreams and goals. I don’t feel that you should do them part-time. I feel that if you have the chance, you should put your all into it, and go for it wholeheartedly. As people. We spend and have spent. So much time working for other people which was their dream, and by doing that, we help keep their dream alive. So why not put that same time and energy into your own endeavors? It’s not always easy, it does get frustrating, and you might have to sacrifice a lot of things. But I believe if you take this approach you will eventually become successful.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a recording artist/ battle rapper from Denver, Colorado. I’ve been on the west coast for the past 2 years pursuing my dream full time. I’ve always had the talent, passion, and the ability to do music. but I didn’t always take it seriously. I tried it off and on a couple different times, but back in 2020 I decided to go for it wholeheartedly. I moved to Vegas in September 2022 to persue music full time, and ended up in California not that long after that. I’ve been here every since. One thing that i feel that sets me apart from others, is my living situation. I’m living in my car as we speak, and have been for the last two years. On top of literally doing everything when it comes to promotion, and being an independent artist by myself. I have no manager, no Street team, no promoter, or backing from a spouse, and I don’t get that much help from friends or family when it comes to the promotion of my music either. On top of being a recording artist and battle rapper, I also am a videographer. I shoot and edit my own videos, as well as take pictures, and make Recaps of different things that transpire around the city. As far as what I’m most proud of. I’m most proud of the progress I’ve made, and how far I’ve came. Not only on this entertainment journey, but life in general after the things I have went through, and experienced personally.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
A lot of people, including so-called friends, and even people in my own family. Have doubted me, and really just questioned my method of doing things when it comes to my journey. Not only have they doubted me, but they have offered very little support in the actual process of me being a creative. It hurts sometimes, because you want to get the support from the people that are in your circle like family and friends. But I’ve learned to take it in stride and keep pushing forward. Because all you need is god, and in my heart. I truly know and believe what the Lord has for me, which is where my faith comes in. I just feel that people whom are not creatives themselves, think that this isn’t a job or a career until it actually becomes one. They just look at this as a part-time hobby that should only be done on the side. They look at and judge you on your current situation, instead of believing in the process that it actually takes to get to where you’re trying to go. But people go to school for many years before they actually get their career. Sometimes even after they get out of school, it takes them a while to get into their career and become successful. Athletes train for many years, and play many games before they actually make it to the professional level. Which is the same for artists. There are some artists that do get overnight success, but that’s not the case for a lot of us. A lot of us have to go through many failures when it comes to music we release, until we finally get the hit that takes us to the next level.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
How I built my audience on social media has really came organically. I didn’t just use the internet like a lot of people do to gain the following that they have. Sure, the internet has helped, because it is a tool if you use it correctly. But majority of the audience I have gained, has come from me being in the streets everyday and promoting my music up close and personal. Living in different cities, traveling to different places. Actually taking the time to talk to people, and get to know them when I meet them. Also sharing my story with them. Which gives them a face to go with the name, and makes them feel like they actually know me, and are a part of my journey as well. Instead of just hearing about me or coming across me on social media. So my advice to other artists that might be reading this is: Don’t just only rely on, or use the internet to gain your fan base. Actually get out about to reach and connect with the people. The people that you connect with on a personal basis that become fans of your music. They will be in it with you for the long run, through all the ups and downs of your musical journey.
