We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mickella Rumbolt. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mickella below.
Mickella, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken so far was starting my business, Chosen Designs. It had always been a dream of mine—a vision I held for years—but turning that dream into reality required taking a leap into the unknown. I didn’t have much experience in fashion or design, but I was incredibly passionate about it. I didn’t know the first thing about running a business either, but I knew I needed to take action if I wanted to make it happen.
To equip myself, I invested in my education. I enrolled in youth entrepreneurship classes and went on to study Event Planning, Fashion Business, and Digital Marketing. All of that helped me clarify my “why” and gave me the foundational knowledge to navigate the world of business.
Even though I was doing all the right things to set myself up for success, I still struggled with doubt. I’d sketch designs, follow the latest trends, communicate with suppliers, and learn everything I could, but fear was always lurking. The fear of failure and the uncertainty of whether this was the right path for me held me back. But through a combination of trusting God and pushing through the fear, I decided to go for it. I launched Chosen Designs in December of 2020.
The support I received was beyond what I had ever expected. It felt so genuine and powerful—it gave me the strength to keep going. With each passing month, the momentum grew: more designs, pop-up shops, events, and a growing sense of purpose. Almost Five years later, I’m proud of how far I’ve come. My brand has allowed me to host a fashion show with over 100 guests, give back to the community, and stay true to my mission of spreading positivity, biblical principles, and the love of Jesus Christ.
Starting my business was a huge risk, but looking back, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Chosen Designs is not just a business; it’s a reflection of my values, my faith, and my journey.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Mickella Rumbolt, founder of Chosen Designs. My journey began with overcoming challenges—born premature at just 1 pound, 15 ounces, with a heart defect and underdeveloped lungs. Surviving against the odds has shaped my purpose: to spread light through fashion, community outreach, and faith.
Chosen Designs is more than a clothing brand; it’s a faith-driven lifestyle movement rooted in positivity and unity. We create apparel, custom hats, and handbags that inspire confidence and the love of Jesus. What sets us apart is our commitment to service—through our outreach, we’ve impacted over 100 youth in Scarborough and reinvest a portion of our sales into the community to support those in need.
We host pop-up shops and an annual fashion show that go beyond style, fostering body positivity, providing youth volunteer opportunities, and supporting small businesses. These events create spaces for connection, encouragement, and empowerment.
As a recent graduate in fashion, marketing, and business, I’m proud of what we’ve built. The challenges of limited resources and brand awareness have only strengthened my resolve to push forward. Looking ahead, we aim to grow both locally and globally, while staying true to our mission of spreading hope, faith, and positivity.
Chosen Designs is a movement. When you support us, you’re not just buying a product—you’re contributing to a cause that makes a lasting impact.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
At Chosen Designs, our creative journey is driven by the mission to inspire others through fashion that reflects biblical truth and love. We aim to create more than just stylish apparel—we want our clothing to make a statement, uplift communities, and serve as a positive representation of faith. Our designs are intentional, crafted to spark conversations and encourage others to embrace their faith with confidence.
Our vision is to become a leading Christian fashion brand that not only shares the message of Jesus Christ but also fosters hope, purpose, and empowerment. Through our work, we want to transform lives and communities, helping individuals live with faith and purpose. Ultimately, our mission is to draw people closer to Christ and create a space where faith is boldly expressed through fashion.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
To be honest, when we first started, we weren’t sure how to grow on social media. But after a few viral moments, it felt like everything just took off—though we’re joking, it wasn’t all that simple! Even though we’re still in the process of growing our presence, we’ve definitely learned to use the platform as a powerful tool to market Chosen Designs.
Social media is such an amazing resource for any business. What really helped us was developing a solid marketing plan, knowing our niche, and understanding our target audience. Collaborations also played a big role in expanding our reach. I found that being creative and relatable in how we marketed the brand made a significant difference.
While we’ve had some viral moments, we always remind ourselves that going viral shouldn’t be the main focus. It’s more important to stay grounded in our “why”—what problem are we solving with our brand? For us, it’s about sharing content that aligns with Chosen Designs’ mission, while telling a story that connects with people. We try not to focus solely on selling products, but on promoting the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is at the heart of everything we do.
Though we’re still growing, we’re really excited about what the future holds for Chosen Designs—especially in terms of brand awareness and engagement this year.
