Michelle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.

I started making jewelry because everything I found at the store was way to big, I have tiny wrists. So I went to the local craft store and got the items I needed to make my own. I wore my designs and days later I started getting custom orders. When I would drop off the orders, I would see someone’s face light up because I got it just right. If something was to break, waistbeads get to loose, not a problem I’ll fix them for you. Designs By Meech was started over 15 years ago. It started as just making custom items for myself and it turned into way more than that. I have made so many connections doing something I love. This past September I celebrated my 5 year anniversary of Designs By Meech shop #305, inside of Small Shops Mall located in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. You can catch me at local vendor events in Rocky Mount. I love seeing returning customers and meeting new ones and getting the perfect piece for them. I offer waistbeads, leg chains, bead bracelets, necklaces, charm bracelets, earrings and croc charms. I also offer repair services.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

Vendor events get out meet some new people, try ones in different cities and always bring business cards.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

Customer service, reasonable prices and consistency.
