We recently connected with Michelle Sargent and have shared our conversation below.
Michelle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
I can’t take credit for the idea, as it truly came from God. At church we call it “download”, when you are in prayer and just listening to God and get this idea or thought. That is truly where the idea came from, a thought that opened a door, that door lead to an opportunity. That opportunity not only equipped me for where I am but provided me room to grow, learn and evolve.
I was hired by a friend to be his personal assistant when I had started a network marketing company back in 2020. I thought this would really help me grow my networking business, it did not at all! I laugh at it now because I see why God opened that door and what He needed me to learn. During that time, I had to make the decision to help this person grow his company or grow mine as I learned that I couldn’t do both like I thought I could. I prayed, and felt God really wanted to be stay where I was. It was like I kept hearing him say “there is still so much you need to learn, trust me, it is not time”. So I did, and it was HARD! I have that personality where I want it, I get it, youngest child syndrome, mine! Right?
Over the next two years, was basically COO of a multi-million dollar network marketing company, running the daily in and out’s of a team over 3000 and active 600 members and growing daily. I went from personal assistant to Executive Assistant. We started hosted events, that went from 100 to over 600 in attendance and grew from 1 day events to 3 day full immersion events. I single handedly ran them. It wasn’t something that I was experienced but God knows my strengths and my limits and opened a door that showed me just what I am capable of doing with excellence.
Mistakes were made, y’all. I am far from perfect, but it was during those times, where decisions had to made and I trusted myself to make the right call and go from there. This door allowed me to leave that position and open my own Production Coordination company that has expanding from running / hosting events, to managing and producing podcasts and helping Preachers / Pastors build their social media accounts to reach their target audience.
All the time I was in Network Marketing and seeing the trainings, the seminars and personal development, really was preparing me to take what I downloading and pour that into my clients and help them grow and share their message which is truly so rewarding in itself.
It was during last year, where I felt God calling me to my purpose which is becoming a Youth Pastor. I applied to go back to school to work on my undergrad in Theology to become a Youth Pastor. I now also work at my Church as our High School Director and Involvement Coordinator Director. It is so cool, as everything I learned over the last two years running the back end of the Networking world, has equipped me for this next chapter.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Of course! Hey ya’ll I am Michelle Sargent! I give all my success and where I am today to Jesus. I was saved back in January 2019 when I was going down a path of total destruction. I went from partying every day to now having over 2 years of complete sobriety. All by the grace of God. My environment changed, and I started hanging out with people who truly pushed me on all levels to not just grow personally, but to grow spiritually and emotionally. It was during this growth, that God opened doors that led me to where I am today. Today I am full time student working towards becoming a Youth Pastor, I run my own Production Coordination Company for hosting events to running social media accounts. I am able to work remotely (currently up in the Mountains writing this). I love that I have the time freedom to explore the world, spend time with my students, friends, family and being in community and knowing my work is helping make an impact in communities all over.
I am your left hand gal! God has blessed with me with unnatural admin abilities that can truly help an individual or a company grow in organization and execution. With that, I help companies and individuals grow their social media presence and make sure there is a solid strategy behind it. I also manage and run in person and zoom events. Anywhere for 5 people to 600 people. A one hour event or a three day immersion event. There is no stress on them! They get to show up at opening and everything is ready to go, from water, to line up, to coordinating with camera crew and AV team. I oversee it all so they only have to focus on their main objective, being present with their community and have the ability to pour into them without having to worry about anything else.
I have learned that a big key to success is great communication. Make sure the team is all on the same page and of course bring that joy and happiness even in the stressful times. There is power in laughter and a smile that can turn a stressful moment into a “we got this” moment. I want to make sure that I understand the people I contract with, that I see their vision for their company, their dreams and our values align. It’s being in daily or weekly contact making sure numbers are growing, sign ups are expanding, and that we stay in the lane of our target goal. I think it is so important to be direct and help lead in certain situations and thats where I feel I stand out, as I am bold to suggest new ways to trying things, that I can see help them achieve their goals. Their dreams are my dreams, their company I take to heart is my company.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Gosh, I feel that there are so many resources that keep popping up that amazing me, One which is so powerful and I often don’t think about is referrals! Everyone knows somebody who could be looking for what one has to offer. Without asking you will never know, and you can be one ask way from completely changing your life!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My mission that is driving my creative journey is advocating for the youth. The youth holds a very special spot in my heart. Personally for me, I fell into a circle growing up that was scary, I was on hard drugs at a very young age that created a lot of obstacles to overcome. I want create a space for the youth that can bridge the gap of looking to society and culture for their identity. But to look too God for the truth. To be so rooted in Christ, that they don’t wander into the darkness that is around us. That they can be the light that outshines the darkness and inspire their friends and their friends friends, and pour into them. Letting them know, they are loved, they are seen, and they will always have someone on their side through all times.
