We were lucky to catch up with Michelle Santagate recently and have shared our conversation below.
Michelle, appreciate you joining us today. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
There are so many misconceptions about Astrology and Tarot. First that the two are one. They aren’t. And not everyone who is interested in one is interested in the other. You don’t have to be interested in both. And neither is religious. They are not exclusive to Witch Craft which was actually developed in the 20th century. Astrology is ancient and it’s so much more. It isn’t religion at all. It’s a philosophy whose core value is that the individual is a microcosm of the universe. How beautiful is that? Divination is the lowest expression of Astrology. Though that’s unfortunately how it’s most often used. It’s not supposed to figure out life for you, but instead to help you connect more deeply to your life, each other, and the divine. I think it’s sad that both Astrologers and tarot readers are mostly asked to predict whether or not a relationship will work out or if someone is cheating on someone else. That’s so limited. And defeats the purpose. You can figure those questions out for yourself.
Michelle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My business, Born without Boundaries, is an online social media content creation company that focuses on primarily spiritual subjects. We have multiple YouTube channels and are found on Facebook, Reddit, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and multiple podcasts platforms. Born without Boundaries is, over all, a life style brand that is also expanding into e-commerce sales. Our offerings include public social content, members only content, personal consultation services, and now, various choices in merchandise. We’ve been growing since 2019. The best place to find everything we do is www.bornwithoutboundariestarot.com
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
The algorithms on Social Media Are always changing so it feels like every month is a battle of survival. You start to realize just how insignificant you are to all of them. It really doesn’t matter how much money you bring in or how many subscribers you have, you’re on your own. They aren’t your partners. They work for themselves. So one year you can be doing so well, but the next month it’s over. What I’ve learned from this is to build a variety of income streams and to never put all your eggs in one basket. That’s essential to staying alive in Social and Digital Media. Just recently YouTube changed their ad structure resulting in a 1/3 decrease in ad revenue for my channels. Views are way up, but the money they’re paying is way down. And there’s nothing you can do about it. So, you have to look for other options.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Independence. And that’s no small task. Working for someone else takes care of so many responsibilities that you’re mostly unaware of. But when you decide to build a business you’re hit with them all. All the risks and all the responsibilities. All the details and paperwork and legal accountability. It’s ALOT! It’s a continuous act of courage. But it’s worth it.
