Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michelle Sandifer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Michelle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
As an artist I am over the moon and completely engaged in a hobby that has developed into passion. Creating art allows me to escape the voice in my head that is constantly wondering about the next crisis life will throw at me. I would love to just create for a living. How does the saying going do what you love and it will never feel like your working. When I am creating art time stands still and I pour my full self into the canvas. It is a complete meditating and transforming process. My brain slows down and I enjoy the “moment”. I am more present with myself.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am self taught artist, continously growing and learning from trial and error. After experiencing two major deaths in my life back to back I turned to art as way of healing. Art had become therapeutic and calming. As I began to slowly nurture this hobby it started to evolve into a passion that I could not wait to share with the world.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The best way to support an artist is to show up for them. Social media is huge! Share our events, show up to free events, like and engage our post. Share your prospective. We love to hear how our art moves or resonate with you.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the freedom of expression. The sense of pride I feel after completing piece. I have entered a few art shows and each time I feel less anxious about sharing myself with the world.
