Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michelle Neely. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Michelle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
A Passion for helping seniors navigate life’s transitions
When it comes to real estate, most people think of buying and selling homes. But for seniors, it’s about so much more. It’s about traditions, memories, and ensuring their golden years are spent with dignity and support. That’s why I became a Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) I believe that the senior community often faces challenges that can leave them vulnerable, overwhelmed, and even taken advantage of. My mission is to serve them with care, compassion, and expertise.
Seniors often encounter obstacles when downsizing, moving, into assisted living, or navigating estate planning. They may have a lifetime of belongings they don’t know how to handle, or they may feel paralyzed by legal and emotional complexities of leaving the somewhere they’ve built their lives. I’ve seen firsthand how these challenges can create chaos. Not just for the senior, but for their families.
In one heartbreaking instance, my own family is currently battling to save a home that been in our family for over 30 years. It was left in the hands of someone who promised to handle everything, but those promises weren’t kept before they passed. Now, the home with all its memories, is caught in legal limbo, with the possibility that it could be awarded to the state. Sadly, this story isn’t unique. Many families face similar struggles because the proper steps weren’t taken in time.
As an SRES, my goal is to ensure that no family has to endure this kind of pain. I collaborate with a network of senior-focused professionals such as elder law attorneys, medicare experts, senior living advisors, and home organizers, to provide a holistic approach to transitions. Together we help seniors and their families navigate the complexities of downsizing, estate planning, and moving, with a focus on protecting their legacy and easing their burden.
Whether its a senior who needs help sorting though decades of belongings, adult children overwhelmed by the prospect of selling their parents home, or a family trying to prevent their loved ones property from falling into the wrong hands. Im here to guide them. It’s not just about the transaction, it’s about creating a smooth and respectful transition for everyone involved.
Seniors deserve to be cared for in this critical chapter of their life, and their families deserve peace of mind. My work as an SRES is about more than real estate. It’s about serving an underserved community with the compassion and professionalism they deserve, while protecting their legacies and helping them move forward into a new chapter of life with confidence.
This is my calling, and I’m honored to play a role in helping seniors and families navigate these transitions, Its not just my job, its my way of serving others and ensuring that no one is left feeling overwhelmed or forgotten.

Michelle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My path into real estate has been one of transformation resilience, and a deep desire to serve others. For the majority of my professional life, I worked in the dental field, where I reached the peak of my particular position. But I felt like something was missing. I needed a new challenge, one that would push me to grow and allow me to make an even greater impact.
Real estate had always been a dream of mine, and after overcoming some significant hardships in my life, I knew it was time to take the leap. I was ready for a fresh chapter, and I was determined to give it my all.
I made the intentional decision to join Kansas City’s highest rated real estate team on google, the Nelson Home Group, knowing that starting on a team would set me up for success. By learning the proven systems.and models, I’ve been able to build strong habits that are the foundation of my business. The tools and mentorship I’ve gained from my team have been invaluable and by following these principles, success is inevitable.
What sets me apart is my heart to serve. I don’t see real estate as just a business, it’s a way to make a difference in peoples lives. As I began working with clients, I noticed a recurring need in the senior community. Many seniors and their families face unique challenges when it comes to downsizing, transitioning to assisted living or managing estates.. I realized I could do more to support them, so I earned my seniors real estate specialist (SRES) designation.
But I didn’t stop there. I’ve recently started training with the Seniors Real Estate Institute, diving even deeper into education for this niche. My goal is to become a true expert in serving seniors and their families, offering comprehensive guidance and resources to make these transitions as smooth and stress free as possible.
What I’m most proud of is my commitment to growth and service. Ive taken the lessons from my past, the knowledge from my team, and my passion for helping others to build a brand that is rooted in integrity, compassion and excellence.
I want my clients and followers to know that when you work with me you’re not just getting a realtor, you’re getting a partner who’s fully invested in your success and well-being. Whether you’re buying, selling, or navigating a major life transition, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.
For me real estate isn’t just about transactions, it’s about people, stories, and creating a positive impact on my community. This is more than a career, it’s my calling and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I’ve built my social media audience by letting my personality shine through. Humor is my favorite way to connect with people, so I create silly, relatable real estate reels and videos that show the fun side of my business. Whether it’s poking fun at real estate quirks or sharing goofy moments with my family, my content is all about being authentic and approachable.
By mixing humor with real-life experiences, I’ve created a space where followers can get to know me beyond being just a realtor. The positive response I’ve received motivates me to keep creating content that’s both entertaining and relatable. Its been an incredible way to connect with clients and build genuine relationships!

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Two resources that have profoundly influenced my approach to business and life are Ed Mylett’s podcast a the book ” The 7 levels of Communication” by Michael J. Maher.
Ed Mylett’s podcast is a constant source of inspiration for me. His “power of one more” philosophy and faith-based entrepreneurial lifestyle have shaped how I approach challenges and opportunities. His advice reminds me that we are capable of so much more than we believe, and his lessons on life and perseverance motivate me to aim higher every day.
Michael J. Maher’s ” The 7 levels of Communication” has revolutionized the way I think about building relationships and growing my business. His concept of the ” Generosity Generation” emphasizes the power of giving back, and being involved in the community, and creating lasting connections with clients. By focusing on generosity and authenticity, I’ve learned that the best way to grow a business is through genuine referrals, which naturally flow from relationships built on trust and service.
These resources have taught me not only how to manage my business but how to approach life with purpose, faith, and generosity.
