We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Michelle Meadow Love a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Michelle , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.
I was a member of LA Fitness gym. I strength trained and took group fitness classes. I regularly attended yoga classes and got to know the other participants. One of the teachers started becoming a no show for class. Each time class was cancelled, we were all disappointed. Many of the class members knew I was a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor; as well as an elementary school teacher. After a few times of class canceling, the other class members asked me to jump in and teach. So I did. I had been practicing yoga since I was 19 and already had a teacher’s voice. It was a natural fit and I had already booked my upcoming Yoga Teacher training. Teaching is my passion and I found myself shifting into spiritual teaching and away from the public school system.

Michelle , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
That someone else has the answers or quick fix as to what is or works best for me. I have had to learn to completely trust myself and surrender regardless of if it makes sense. My intuition has never steered me wrong. When I listen to the whispers of my soul and the fire in belly (gut feeling), I am guided along my journey with more ease and grace. Sometimes it’s bumpy, as stuff happens, and for the most part everything works out better than I could have planned. There is magic in allowing the universe to do its work to support me. I let go of trying to control the details and instead focus on staying authentic and in integrity. My daily devotional practice keeps me grounded and aligned. Whatever I need is magnetized to me. We all live in abundance and believing I am worthy is enough.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I was 40 years old with young daughters and recently diagnosed with Lyme disease and co-infections. I had been sick and gas light in the medical system for years. Doctors couldn’t help, didn’t have answers and only wanted to prescribe narcotics and psychiatric drugs. I was finally working with a Lyme literate naturopath and an Accupuncturist, who slowly worked at peeling back the layers. During this time, my marriage was toxic and had been for a long time, it was contributing to my dis-ease. I knew I could not heal in an environment that contributed to me being sick. I filed for divorce, not knowing how long treatment would last or if would get healthy. I was a stay at home mom and needed help caring for the girls. My soon to be ex-husband was fighting me every step of the way. Most of the treatment costs were not covered by insurance and were very costly. My doctor recommended not working more than 20 hours per week and even that was difficult for me to maintain, I could barely lift my head off a pillow. I felt like I was dying every day for years. I kept fighting for my daughters and my future. Little by little, the good days began to outweigh the bad days as I continued to research and find solutions for myself. Yoga, Reiki, meditation, sound healing, crystals, essential oils, detoxing, cannabis, microdosing mushrooms, ozone therapy, clean eating and other holistic practices supported my healing journey. I went from barely surviving to thriving.
