Michelle, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
The hotel industry, closely associated with professional meeting planners, faces critical challenges due to supply chain issues and staffing shortages. The COVID-19 pandemic had a sudden and adverse impact on the hotel and event industry, causing many to switch careers or leave altogether. As a result, the industry is still reeling from the effects of this significant shift.
To address the matter at hand, we have taken proactive steps.
Firstly, we have booked larger conference venues beyond the years 2025 and 2026. This is due to the fact that in-person events are currently making a comeback and are better than ever. Interestingly, we have noticed a significant increase in attendance, even prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Secondly, we have been creatively educating our clients and network about the issue and strongly advising them to take appropriate measures.
Thirdly, we have been proactive in sourcing venues much earlier and utilizing our connections within the hotel industry to ensure that our clients can host their events successfully.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Developing “flex-courage” has proven to be invaluable during the COVID-19 pandemic as a meeting manager.
“Flex-courage” refers to the ability to confront the current reality and use it as a catalyst for growth, instead of simply enduring it. The industry’s profound changes have compelled me to become more innovative, adaptable, and resilient beyond my limits. I smoothly adapted to managing virtual meetings, while also actively seeking new opportunities for advancement.
My flex-courage empowered me to step beyond my comfort zone, take calculated risks, and remain agile when necessary – all pivotal qualities for successful meeting management in any setting.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
