We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Michelle Lucas a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Michelle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back at the decisions you made early in your career, particularly whether to join a firm or start your own, do you feel you made the right choice for that stage of your career?
When I first started out, I didn’t join a firm—I decided to go out on my own. It was a leap of faith that felt deeply aligned with my purpose. At the time, I was balancing a high-stress career in the legal field and navigating life as a mom to a newborn during a pandemic. The corporate grind was relentless, and I felt torn between my professional responsibilities and the desire to be present for my child. That inner conflict made it clear: I needed to create something that allowed me to thrive both as a mother and as a professional.
Starting my own business was no easy feat. In those first few years, I wore every hat imaginable: marketer, bookkeeper, coach, administrator. It was a season of long nights, self-doubt, and moments of wondering if I had made the right choice. But it was also a time of immense growth, purpose, and a feeling of freedom I hadn’t experienced before.
Looking back, I know it was the right decision for me. It gave me the space to build a business that aligns with my values, serves other women and mompreneurs, and allows me to live a life that feels authentic. The challenges I faced in those early days—like learning how to manage time as a single mom and business owner—shaped the compassionate and empathetic approach I bring to my clients today. I understand what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, and I’m passionate about helping other women achieve clarity and confidence in their financial lives so they can thrive, too.
Those early experiences gave me the courage to trust myself, and they’ve fueled my mission to empower others to build businesses that support the lives they dream of.

Michelle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Thank you so much for asking! I’d love to share more about my journey and what drives the work I do.
I’ve always had a deep passion for helping others achieve financial clarity. Growing up, I experienced firsthand the stress and challenges of financial insecurity. My family often struggled to make ends meet, we were homeless many times, and those early experiences taught me the importance of financial planning and the impact it has on our sense of stability and peace of mind. Determined to change my trajectory, I put myself through college, earning degrees in Finance and Psychology. This combination gave me a unique perspective—not just about the numbers but about the mindset and emotional factors tied to money.
Today, I’m the founder of Wallet Prosperity, where I specialize in empowering women entrepreneurs and mompreneurs to thrive financially. I offer services like bookkeeping, financial clean-up, and financial coaching, all tailored to support business owners in gaining clarity, confidence, and control over their finances. What sets me apart is that I’m not just about “keeping the books.” I’m a partner, cheerleader, and teammate for my clients. I care deeply about their success—both in business and in life—and I work to reduce their stress and help them focus on what they love most.
I solve problems like disorganized finances, unclear cash flow, and the overwhelm of managing both personal and business money. Through my clean-up services, I bring order to chaotic records. With monthly bookkeeping, I provide ongoing support and insights to ensure clients are on track. And through financial coaching, I help them set goals, build confidence, and create strategies that align with their vision.
One thing I’m most proud of is seeing my clients transform—watching them go from feeling stressed and uncertain to empowered and thriving. I want my potential clients to know that I’ve walked the hard road myself. I’ve been the overwhelmed mom, the determined entrepreneur, and the woman trying to create a better life. I bring not just expertise but also compassion and understanding to every client relationship.
At Wallet Prosperity, we believe true financial success isn’t just about the numbers; it’s about creating a life you feel good about—one where your finances support your goals, dreams, and well-being. That’s the heart of everything I do, and I’m honored to help others on this journey.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Absolutely—this chapter of my journey is one I hold close because it truly shaped who I am today and the heart of my work.
A few years ago, I made two life-changing decisions back-to-back: I left my high-pressure corporate job, and shortly after, I made the difficult choice to leave the father of my children. At the time, I had two little ones depending on me and a dream of building my own business. On paper, it might have seemed like I was stepping into the unknown, but in my heart, I knew I was stepping into my purpose.
It was not easy. As a single mom and a brand-new business owner, I faced moments of doubt, fear, and overwhelm. But I also found resilience I didn’t know I had. I tapped into my “why”—my deep desire to create a better life for my children and to build a business that could help other women do the same. That clarity fueled me during the hardest days.
There were nights when I’d work late after putting my kids to bed, and mornings when I’d wake up unsure how I’d juggle it all, but I kept going because I believed in the vision. Slowly, step by step, I built Wallet Prosperity into a space where I could not only support my family but also help other women take control of their finances and build their own dreams.
That season of my life taught me that resilience isn’t about being fearless—it’s about moving forward even when fear is present. It’s about trusting yourself, even when the path ahead feels uncertain. Today, I bring that same determination and compassion to my clients. I know what it’s like to feel stretched thin, to carry the weight of big decisions, and to keep pushing toward something better. And I’m honored to stand beside the women I work with as they create their own paths to success.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Pivoting is a natural part of growth, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. One of the most transformative pivots in my journey came when I shifted my focus from exclusively coaching individuals and families on their finances to expanding my services to support women entrepreneurs.
At first, my heart was fully invested in helping families and individuals create financial clarity and stability. I loved seeing clients achieve personal financial wins, but I started noticing a common thread with many women I worked with—especially entrepreneurs. They weren’t just struggling to manage personal finances; they were overwhelmed trying to separate their business and personal finances while also growing their businesses. I saw how interconnected their business success was with their personal financial stability, and I realized I could help on a much deeper level.
So, I made the decision to pivot. I expanded my services to offer bookkeeping and ongoing financial coaching tailored specifically for women entrepreneurs. This wasn’t just about crunching numbers; it was about becoming a true partner in their financial journey. I wanted to help them gain clarity, not just in their business finances but in their personal lives, too.
This pivot allowed me to combine my expertise with my passion for empowering women to thrive. I now get to play a part in helping them not only grow profitable businesses but also create a life that aligns with their values and goals. It was a big shift, but looking back, I see it as the moment my purpose became even clearer.
The pivot reminded me that when we align our work with what truly lights us up—and when we listen to the needs of those we serve—we create something even more impactful. This is the foundation of Wallet Prosperity, and it continues to inspire me every day.
