We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Michelle Kafka a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Michelle , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry
In the current era of social media, everyone can be an influencer. Anything you post could inspire your followers to seek out a similar product, service or experience. On a larger scale, contracted social media influencers have become a valuable marketing tool for companies in a wide range of industries. In our work as an integrated marketing firm, influencer outreach and relationship building has become part of the strategy for a number of clients. The content influencers create and share offers a unique advantage over other forms of earned media coverage, as it’s typically placed in front of consumers with similar values and therefore may be more likely to act on a specific task with influence from others.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Kafka Media Group, a creative integrated marketing agency. My husband and I have dedicated the past decade to growing our business and our brand. What started as a two-person public relations operation has evolved into a multi-faceted marketing firm with at least 30% growth in the number of team members year over year for the past 5 years.
We are most proud of the reputation we have managed to build in such a short time. Our brand is personal, honest and genuine. We take the time to get to know our clients on a personal level and go above and beyond to help them achieve success.

Any fun sales or marketing stories?
We take an in-depth approach when deciding which clients to work with. It’s important that we foster relationships with companies that work to improve the lives of others.
Our relationship with Sonio, a healthcare company initially solely based in France, began in early 2023. Sonio created an ultrasound reporting solution that uses artificial intelligence to provide improved, more comprehensive prenatal care. The first task on our plate was introducing the company and the technology to the US market. In about 6 months time, we were able to help Sonio become the first fetal ultrasound startup using artificial intelligence to receive clearance from the Food and Drug Administration. Through our continued marketing efforts, Sonio has become a household name in obstetrics and radiology around the globe.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Performing above and beyond a customer’s expectations is the best strategy for not only retaining current business but also recruiting future clients to trust us with their brand. We aim to start each relationship with a strong foundation of confidence and reliability. Open, candid and frequent communication are essential parts of our formula that have contributed to the longstanding relationships we have built. Those connections have inspired an abundance of referrals, one of the largest and complimentary ways we are able to bring in new business.
