We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Michelle Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Michelle , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

My mission is to support and love on all local businesses in my city of Cincinnati and travel. That’s how my business of blogging started.. posting fun places I’ve been and what I was doing and it just took off from there. Small businesses need all the help they can get spreading the word on where they are and what the do.

Michelle , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m Michelle, born and raised in Cincinnati. As I mentioned I started my blog organically by just posting on social media about great places in our city. I noticed that people enjoyed it and trusted my opinion. I figured if it’s drumming up business for people how wonderful. I try to give ideas for businesses and how to use their social media platforms. I try to tell special stories about the restaurant, bar, theater, and store and let people know why they need to go and support them.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

Social media is quite a game and can be so discouraging. There have been many times I wanted to give up and then I’ll meet a follower or a business owner who said something kind or let me know that they love following my page and it keeps me going. So not giving up and know that even though I may not have a million followers I still can make a difference for someone.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

I think being my most authentic self is what connects with people. Let them know who you are and let them see you make mistakes. That is what I hear most from my followers.
