Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michelle Johnson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Michelle , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One deeply underappreciated facet of being a service provider is the kind of crazy stuff that happens from time to time. It could be anything from a disgruntled client attacking an employee or waking up to find out a celebrity gave you a shoutout on TikTok – the sudden, unexpected hits (both positive and negative) make the profession both exhilarating and exhausting. Can you share one of your craziest stories?
My first real estate sale was a $1M sale and my commission was only $2500 which it should have been $30K (minus broker fees) unfortunately for me being a new agent I choose to hang my license with a brokerage as a W2 employee rather than a 1099 Independent contractor. Lessons that I learned….
1. NEVER underestimate your talents even if you are new and don’t know what you doing
2. Always remember why you start any business or make any decision that will have an impact on your financial life
3. You will always achieve what you believe you can or can not
4. Always show up for yourself
That was the first of many lessons that I have learned in the real estate business. I have learned a lot since that first lesson and I continue to learn but the most important lesson I learned and that when you FAIL remember it was your First Attempt In Learning and Effort Never Dies so do ever give up and keep pushing through all the NO in life because your Next Opportunity is just around the corner.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing your clientele. I get up every day with the intention of meeting 10 new people to give my business card. I do not just hand them my card. I have a conversation and allow them to be the center of the conversation that way they are comfortable in giving me their contact information so we can keep in touch. That works for me because I never made the conversation about me or what I can do for them. That’s why I never have to pay for any leads because the people I meet are ALWAYS willing to give me referrals without me having to ask for them
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
