We recently connected with Michelle Jo and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Michelle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
Learning to embrace both the pivot and journey that will come as a creative. I’ve learned that in being a creative, you may have a vision but as you grow and evolve as a person, your dreams and goals may also begin to look different as well. One of my favorite quotes comes from Lauren London, in a interview she did with Jay Shetty, she said “I’d rather flow with the river instead of fight with the rocks.” That stuck with me, because life is guaranteed to change and I’m learning sometimes it’s best to embrace the flow and not fight the pivot of life, because you actually might end up in a much better place than you imagined.
Michelle , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Michelle Jo, I’m a self love and manifestation coach. I originally got into the wellness space because all I knew was religion and I knew there was more, although I had no clear understanding of what self love was and definitely had no clue how to manifest my dream life, I took a personal journey to both connect with myself and a higher power. Through my journey of both self love and healing, I felt I wanted to encourage other women who may have similar backgrounds, to heal from within. I became an author, my first book Not Power of the P- lessons in life and love women can relate to, I wrote the book for women to have a honest and practical guide for loving themselves and rediscovering themselves.
I then created Michelle Jo and Co, after getting certified as a life coach, I began to service women in their journey of healing after heartbreak and divorce, conducting 101 sessions and events that held space for women to heal and be seen, without the judgement.
My brand continues to evolve as a coaching space to assist women in their journey of healing and self love.
I’m very proud of the continued impact that my brand continues to make, the goal is to create a wellness community for women to know they can heal from within and although some may not know where to begin, that’s where I come in.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Both maintaining authenticity while staying consistent. It sounds very cliché but there are highs and lows in business, but making the decision to post, show up and provide amazing customer service should be a non-negotiable. I believe having the systems in place for when life is happening or needing a mental health break/recharge, is also very important.
I believe breaking up with the hustle culture while also maintaining authenticity and consistency is some vital keys.
It’s not about catching every trend, being aesethically pleasing etc. Provide solutions for your ideal client but also remember to keep the special touch that sets you apart from everyone else.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I believe it’s important to be in discovery and to go out and experience living. As a creative, it’s important to not only intake information for growth etc. but to also have fun, go out to be inspired and make your life enjoyable, I believe that’s the balance.
