We were lucky to catch up with Michelle Green recently and have shared our conversation below.
Michelle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
There were times in my life that I questioned if I was living life to the fullest. There was always this feeling that I needed to express myself and create. Sometimes I felt like this feeling was a burden because regular jobs seemed very unfulfilling unless I was able to be creative in some way. I realized the jobs I had were just stepping stones on the way to a more spiritually lucrative future. When I picked up the paintbrush and pursued the tradition art journey is when my life really began. Having a regular job was no longer in the cards for me. Painting and owning my own art business gives me so much joy and allows me to bring joy to others.

Michelle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Michelle Green, an expressive nature inspired portrait painter. I currently reside in Orlando Florida where I continue to grow my art business. I started the collection “Beauty in the face of adversity” because I’m so inspired by resilient women. The idea that you can rise up in spite of adversities such as poverty, inequality, and discrimination, is the essence of my work. I was born in poverty and seen the discrimination first hand, I can relate with the struggles of other women who are going through it.
My aim is to explore themes of female empowerment, intuition, and creative expression. Art to me is a way of communicating through colors that’s inspiring, healing and transformative. Art gives us purpose and allows us to get closer to our divinity connecting with the spirit and of the soul when words are not enough. When I am creating a piece, what excites me the most is that I’m drawing upon these energies that almost seems like a dance on the canvas.
My movements and color placement seem to have a mind of its own which is why I think this process can be so intuitive. My paintings spark a powerful journey into the soul and mind, it’s a fabrication of one’s free will. It’s all about connection to higher parts of ourselves as well as our connection to spirit.
I sell original art, fine art prints, and take commissions. If you want a painting of a loved one with themes of nature then I am the person who can help you! All artworks are signed, varnished, painted with top brands, carefully packaged, and shipped to you in 3-7 business days. Free shipping anywhere in the USA.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding thing about being an artist is creating something that is meaningful to your spirit and soul, is there anything better than that? There’s so much joy and freedom in being alone in my art studio and creating something for nothing. It’s just so rewarding. There are many challenges that goes along with being a painter and owning a business but I just think of that as an opportunity for growth.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My entire story is about resilience! Coming from poverty I had to learn to be creative to find ways out of tough situations. I worked two jobs at one point just to put myself through school. I realized that I can be proactive and teach myself the skills necessary to be a professional artist. Each year I see some kind of growth. Even though I get to paint all day I do have to focus on the business side of being a creative. This includes photography, marketing, emails, promotions, ads, finding platforms to sell my art, put together a website, SEO, art fairs, bookkeeping, and the list goes on. I pride myself in finding ways to be successful on a very tight budget. I find ways to work smarter so I can keep doing what I love!
