We recently connected with Michelle Galindo and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle , thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful to me is simply not giving up. Having the drive to keep pushing even when everything seem to be going the wrong way but knowing that things will always work out. It’s not easy but you must always stay consistent. For example, when I first started, I had zero clients! I worked out of my moms house and left a career I had done for 12 years! The only thing I knew was that I was never going to look back. This HAD to work! So I simply put my name out there, stayed on top of my social media and education.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Well my name is Michelle Galindo. I am a wife and a mom of 2. When I was an emergency vet tech, I always felt like something was missing. That even though I was great at my job, it wasn’t making me happy. My one true excitement while at work was dealing with abbesses or even skin related issues.
I always had a passion for skin. I just didn’t know it can actually become a career. Once I had my son, my skin started to change. I was breaking out and having major issues with my skin. I thought only a dermatologist could help me with this since I didn’t know what an esthetician was. Sadly I would leave more disappointed after each visit. Once I started doing more research, I noticed esthetician where ACTUALLY showing results with their clients and was hooked. During this time, I was also trying to help out my little sister and encouraging her to go to cosmetology school and I would enroll in the aesthetics program in order to open up something together. Life doesn’t always work the way we hoped. My sister passed away in 2020 and that same year I decided to give everything up and follow the dream we had talked about.
I fell in love with skin! So much that I knew I wanted to bring my clients amazing results. Diving in into medical aesthetics was the only way to go for me. I know the struggle of not feeling confident in our own skin and I wanted to give that back to each and everyone of them.
Once I graduated from school, my education didn’t stop there. I enrolled into advanced treatment protocols, peels, microneedling and more. Personally I never feel like you can stop learning. The more I know, the better I can serve my clients.
I am now an acne specialist but also a results driven esthetican that focuses on medical aesthetics. What sets me aside from most people is that I truly care about your success. Your goals become my goals and we are a team when it comes to your skin. I pride myself on the knowledge I can bring in order to show you results. I also only work with products that I KNOW will work.
I currently offer: Hydrafacials, chemical peels, advanced chemical peels, microneedling, enzyme therapy and maintenance facials customized to your skin needs.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I personally never liked recording myself in front of a camera but I wanted to stand out to my clients. I wanted to them know the face behind the business. I always felt like it would remind them that I am also human just like them and that they can relate to me. At least thats how I would want a business to approach me. So little by little, I would hit that record book and simply talk. Somedays it was skin tips and other days simple words of motivation. I let my clients in on a little of my personal life as well. I shared trips with my family or simply what movies we like.
One thing that I advise people when it comes to social medial is BE YOURSELF! Always stay true to YOU! You will then attract the right clients and the ones that fit your essence. Copying other will simply set you back.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
When I first started, I wanted to do EVERYTHING! Be a jack of all trades. From waxing, facials, to even permeant makeup you name it. I started to realize how much I disliked some of these services and would dread doing them. Now this might not be a popular opinion but I rather be a Master of my trade. So I stuck just to medical grade skincare.
