We recently connected with Michelle & Gail Moore & Austin and have shared our conversation below.
Michelle & Gail, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Our mission is to make each woman feel beautiful from the inside out. We both know what it feels like to feel beat down, overwhelmed, insignificant, etc, It took us a long time to get where we are in both our personal and career life. We believe Empowered women, Empower women. We never want to forget that, We want to make sure every woman we come in contact with feels loved and encouraged,
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Michelle and I love fashion, shopping, and most of all lifting other women up and encouraging them. Michelle worked as a teacher for the head start program and I, Gail had my own cleaning business. Michelle started thinking about what she would like to do differently and so she started researching how to start an online boutique. She spent more than a year researching and collecting data on how to build a successful boutique. With encouragement and support from her husband and me. her best friend she started her journey. After a few months she asked if I would like to partner with her. I absolutely did. My kids were grown and I wanted to build something I could be proud of. So together we set out on this journey.
We wanted to provide quality clothing at affordable prices. We always strive to make sure our customer service is top notch. We have made so many beautiful friends through this journey. Many who were customers and others who are women owned small business owners.
We now have an amazing app that is so user friendly. We also strive to find quality clothing for our plus size customers. We realized when we started this journey how hard it was to find stylish clothing for our curvy Queens. So we have made it a mission to provide that for them.
We really do care about our customers. You don’t get that in big box stores. One of our favorite services to provide is our mystery boxes. We love picking out clothes that we think that person would love and that would look fabulous on her.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I’ll be honest, when covid hit and our country shut down we were scared. We cried, we prayed and then we pivoted. People were staying at home. They no longer needed the work clothes are going out clothes. So we tried to figure out what people needed. We started selling candles, bed sheets, magnetic eye lashes, and self tanner. We actually did amazing those few months. It got us through those months of the shut down.
How’d you meet your business partner?
I met my business partner about 16 years ago. We both had started going to a church around the same time. After awhile we became great friends and then eventually best friends. We have raised children together, shed many tears together, spent much time in prayer together, and had more laughs than I can count. I hope everyone has a best friend that can lift them up, encourage, and love you when you feel like your whole world is falling apart.
