We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Michelle Daniels . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Michelle below.
Michelle , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Mind, Body & Spirit Women’s Wellness, LLC. is not just a business it is my life and my mission. When I started Mind, Body & Spirit Women’s Wellness, LLC. I was going through a life transformation. Hence the name Mind, Body & Spirit Women’s Wellness. To symbolize the transformation of my mind, body and spirit.
our core values and principles reflect my personal mission here on earth. Which are community, education and business.
Community:
I wanted women to have a safe place to connect and learn from each other. So, I started Women’s Wellness Wednesdays which is a circle of women who meet virtually once a month to discuss all topics related to us. I started the group with just friends and family and now it is open to women of all walks of life and I use social media platforms to promote all of our meetings. Did I mention that they are free?
We also hope to start getting involved with local women’s shelters to offer free labor and postpartum Doula services to women in need. We also like to have some fun! We have hosted virtual game nights and poetry nights.
Education:
In some of our past Women’s Wellness Wednesday sessions We had women facilitate and teach us the benefits of life insurance, yoni steaming, nutrition and physical fitness.
Business:
In order to promote wellness and relaxation I developed a line of handmade products. We make goatmilk soaps, bath bombs and body sprays
Michelle , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born and raised in New Jersey but lived in Brooklyn, NY for many years. The hustle and bustle of the city and everyday life was draining along with going through a divorce I felt drained and needed a change. I thinking to myself if I feel this way how many other women are feeling this way. I decided to start a sister circle called Women’s Wellness Wednesdays that meet virtually the last Wednesday of the month to discuss a plethora of topics. I then decided to study to become a labor and postpartum Doula so that I can support women during their journey to motherhood. During my skincare regime I realized that a lot of products have additives/chemicals including soap. I researched different natural remedies and recipes and decided to make soap. Our line of goatmilk soaps came about from there, then bath bombs and bath salt blends. All with the intent to help women relax and have healthy skin with minimal chemicals.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
While I was trying to get my business started COVID hit and I was going through a divorce. I lost my job and had to live with family. I often attended vending events with a smile on my face but had so much inner turmoil going on. I stopped making products, hosting meeting and doing anything for the business for 4 months. Then women would call me out the blue and ask when is the next meeting and how am I doing? It was the women that actually brought me out of my stupor and back into doing the work that I love.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson that I had to unlearn is thinking that I would make a big profit and that starting a business would be minimal work. In actuality this is actually the hardest job I ever had and after buying supplies and paying fees their is very little profit. Not to say that at some point we won’t be profitable.
