Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michelle and John Piccolo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Michelle and John Piccolo, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with talking about how you serve the underserved, because in our view this is one of the most important things the small business community does for society – by serving those who the giant corporations ignore, small business helps create a more inclusive and just world for all of us.
At Jack Creative, we’re here to serve mom-owned businesses and brands that moms love and trust. Many being small brands that don’t have budgets for big production companies or PR agencies – but they deserve to have their brands showcased.
After a collective 30 years in the industry, it was important to us to work with brands we TRULY admire, respect and support as consumers. Brands that are doing it right.
On the PR side, it’s just me (Michelle) that is working on those clients (which are currently home organizing company Of Space + Mind and pediatric sleep consulting agency Brittany Sheehan Sleep). I have 15 years of experience doing fashion PR in New York and I’m taking all of my experience and knowledge to bring it to small mom-owned brands at a much better price than a full on agency. They are getting a VP level service for a fraction of the price.
For video content, John and I work together to film and produce and John will edit the project. We can do a simple yet well done production from our own home. Clients have loved the work and have used on their social, website, and other of their retailers websites.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I (Michelle) was working as a Director at a Fashion PR agency in NYC for close to 9 years. I had my first son Jack and went back to work at 12 weeks, still suffering from postpartum depression. We had a nanny at the time, and when Jack was 8 months it became very clear after an incident that we had to let her go and I had to be a “stay at home mom.” This was not planned, and it hit me very hard. Having to leave my career I worked so hard to achieve and lose an income.
It took me a while to get to a good place – but I started freelance writing and focusing on my other project “Feeding our Toddlers.” Then close to 4.5 years later, we launched Jack Creative.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Majority of our clients have come through brand relationships I’ve fostered with my website/IG “Feeding our Toddlers.” They know me, have seen my work, we’ve spoken about the brand, I’ve supported the brand well before Jack Creative was founded. They have built trust with me vs another agency submitting an RFP.
Be a customer, be a cheerleader, share some knowledge. Build that relationship.
